  1. I don't rate him and he's a cheating, emaciated smack rat
  2. Would rather we signed Gordon, the fictional train from Thomas the Tank Engine.
  3. I think it's a miles on the clock thing. Duff annoyingly went on to have a good stint at Fulham but the rest of them were way past their best when they came due to playing from a young age and injuries. We had a bit of a reputation for paying daft wages at the time as well - Keiron Dyer was on £80k a week in 2005 IIRC. £6m was a decent wedge for Smith at the time, probably like paying £20m ish now I'd say. I remember thinking the signings we made that summer was us showing serious ambition but it was clear early on that they weren't the same players anymore and I'm sure they were on high wages too.
  4. You could probably make pretty solid cases for Viduka, Duff, Owen, Kluivert (although he was still good), Ronny Johnsen, Babayaro, Smith being name signings who were all past their best.
  5. The best video on YouTube IYAM
  6. It's funny because the attempted crack in the Football section is always an endurance test in cringe Then someone mentions anything vaguely political and people start crying, it's funny as fuck.
  7. You're not going to escape its tentacles anywhere man, people can talk about whatever the fuck they want.
  8. The people you're talking about here are generally liberals. Nothing to do with the left.
  9. I consider him actually saying that we want Diaby as a victory over his contrarianism tbh.
  10. Right on my doorstep that. On the plus side I'll be able to see the training ground and SJP from Weetslade. On the negative side, the training ground nonces will be in my area.
  11. Can I just shock you? I like Graeme Bailey, despite what I said earlier.
  12. Shearer announced his retirement a year before he was injured. In fact it was 2 years earlier and then Souness convinced him to stay for another year.
  13. Just saying, not every situation is identical. A contract is a two-way thing as well.
  14. Comparing the jobs is obviously ridiculous, but thinking that footballers are going to act differently to how we would in certain situations is equally ridiculous tbh. If you have no ties and it's going to damage your long-term career by not getting game time, it's a lot easier to make the love of the game case to take a pay cut than it would be if you're 32 and your wife and kids think of Newcastle as home.
  15. Diaby feels too perfect and unlikely. Would be happy with either Harrison or Sarr if Diaby's out of grasp.
  16. We'll be able to power Britain with the spins William Morris will be doing in his grave over that.
  17. Re Broja, 9 in 38 isn't amazing, but I think only 23 of those were starts which looks a lot better, especially for his age. I noticed he was born the day before 9/11 We're so old.
  18. It's all about the midfield signing and what Howe sees Bruno's role as imo. He's potentially shown in the second half of last season that he's too good to be restricted to playing that deep.
  19. Paqueta for me. Tielemans looked great but he's one paced and can be a bit of a pushover when out of possession imo. I feel like Paqueta has a higher ceiling.
  20. With bullies it's often projection. They themselves know and are often told that they're boring, unfunny, unlikeable etc.
  21. I'd forgotten how fun some of the Hughton matches were. 2-0 Nottingham Forest with Enrique scoring 6-0 Villa 5-1 Sunderland 1-0 Everton purely for Ben Arfa and Tiote's performances
  22. 5-0 Man United 7-1 Spurs 7-1 Leicester The first 4-3 Liverpool
  23. Broja, Harrison, Diaby or Paqueta, but they're more like papier-mâché links.
  24. Imagine a stand this big here
