  1. Give me a first game and last game and I can tell you.
  2. Prediction. Double figures next season.
  3. Player of the Season: Too many to mention Flop: None Most Improved: Murphy Unsung Hero: Longstaff Signing: Isak
  4. Thanks ? Forgot to change the number of games played.
  5. Didn’t lose in January either, though only two league games (Watford H, draw; Leeds A, win).
  6. There was an error in the last one of these I posted (apols) before the Spurs game. This is corrected and updated below with the three extra wins since then.
  7. Updated prediction chart, for end of April. After this many games (all PL seasons) we are two points above the average for third place and 6 points above the average for fourth place.
  8. I don’t think there’s much chance of that, but I do think we need to re-think the whole ‘aren’t we doing well with limited players’ narrative. Almiron and Joelinton (obviously) have shown their true level and are less controversial top of the table type players. There may well come a time (and it might well be now) when the contributions and consistency of Longstaff, Willock and Murphy (feel free to add Burn, Targett and others to the list) forces a re-categorisation from mid-table players at best (…we have all thought/said worse than that) to recognition of their achieved potential as top six worthy ballers.
  9. Just seen how tight it still is for play-off places. One game to go and two from Coventry (69pts,+12gd), Millwall (68, +8), Sunderland (66,+12), West Brom (66, +7) to take last two play-off places.
  10. In himself, one signing, he would take us to the next level (…or keep us there!!). Just can’t see him coming though. He strikes me as a bright lights/big city type; probably go to Arsenal—if they want him.
  11. We’ve four CBs who Howe trusts. I think LB will be a priority/nailed on signing, but mainly for tactical/flexibility reasons rather than lack of quality or trust in the options we have. Just look at the table. We’ve only conceded 26 goals. 12 less than Arsenal (and 3 less than Man City). Any angsting over our defensive quality, at LB or anywhere else, seems ridiculous in that context.
  12. Goals from Botman and Gordon (and Schar if I’m being greedy) would cap a wonderful week’s football.
  13. Gameweek 34 Palace 2-2 West Ham Brentford 2-1 Forest Brighton 2-1 Wolves Bournemouth 2-1 Leeds Fulham 1-3 Man City Man United 2-1 Villa Newcastle 3-0 Southampton Liverpool 3-2 Spurs Leicester 2-1 Everton Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea Liverpool 2-0 Fulham Man City 3-1 West Ham Brighton 2-1 Man United
  14. I don’t think we’re overachieving either. Since January 2022 our level/points return is pretty solidly (Prem average wise)exactly were we are, third.
  15. Who’s punched out the ceiling tile? ? …and where’s TyneMurph? It’s not a real win without that beautiful gurn!
  16. 1.94 points per game this season. Continue that form for next six games (12 points from 18) and that is enough for third in 16 of the thirty Prem seasons and 4th in 26 of the thirty. Current leaders are on a 2.27 ppg season, which reflects a pretty average return for the Champions. So, we are playing in Europe next season, and four more wins pretty much guarantees it’ll be in the Champions League: Southampton H (won 4-1 away) Arsenal H (drew 0-0 away) Leeds A (drew 0-0 home) Brighton H (drew 0-0 away) Leicester H (won 3-0 away) Chelsea A (won 1-0 home) Seems doable. Can’t see us losing more than two. So win, instead of draw, the others and job done.
  17. Is it just me, or when you zoom in do his arms look even shorter?
