  1. Including the pedantic ?
  2. All wondrous walks of life are here.
  3. Yep, would be good for him, no doubt. But secretly hope he rips everyone apart in training and gets straight into the first team.
  4. Had similar thoughts. Class is permanent though.
  5. Couldn’t watch the game, but seems our boy done good!
  6. Imagine if we’d pushed the boat out for that additional marquee signing midfielder… . Might have held on to win that City game, may have seen out the draw at Anfield, almost certainly would have beaten Palace, perhaps Bournemouth as well, at home. Additional 5-7 points would have been (even more) mind-blowingly nice!
  7. Top ratings for our man from the BBC!
  8. Decent ratings on BBC sport, so maybe worrying about him needlessly.
  9. Wonder if our boy is getting pelters in Brazillian press? I didn’t watch closely but despite seeing a fair bit of the ball nothing seemed to come off for him, and caught sight of a despairing (embarrassed?) look as he lay face down on the turf at the end.
  10. Them there Argies are fucked! ( dude )
  11. Plans change. We have a bigger potential fanbase than Man City, for example, who despite the incredible success in recent years, are probably in the right sized ground/still struggle to fill it at times (don’t think the location/transport helps fwiw). If, catch me if I swoon, we had anything like that level of success, it would be back to the frustrating inaccessibility of the height of the Keegan era. Having thousands on the waiting list for season tickets and losing the flexibility of selling champions league tickets/packages to ‘occasional’ out of area newbie fans will change corporate minds. Also, I love SJP. Can’t describe, in my now occasional visitor status, how much of a sense of homecoming and connection to people and times of my past I get from visiting. But the idea that it is our home and we can’t have that feeling unless it is on that patch of ground doesn’t make sense to me. It’s a bit like Trigger’s broom from Only Fools and Horses, I.e. it isn’t really the same and bears little resemblance to the SJP of my youth. Something like Spurs’s stadium, relatively close to the city centre would be absolutely amazing—should we actually get to the point were we need it.
  12. Poetic licence, perhaps? If what’s his name can have two cocks, then they can have home billing ?‍♂️
  13. Do you think he’ll get a run-out tomorrow? Hope so. However great it might be to win a World Cup it must feel a bit of an anticlimax if you haven’t really featured.
  14. Perhaps a similar reason that I thought Shilton’s age-slowed reaction time might cost us in the 1990 finals (…think it did contribute). Similarly T-Rex arms might not reach something Pope would/could.
  15. Might be if you said all Iranians are horrific cheaters. Is that what you’re saying Steve? Is it? Eh? Shameful (?)
  16. That’s 11 unforced errors/misplaced passes for Rashford, by my count.
  17. Yep. It’s a goer, if we can have that blue star flag, anarl.
  18. Is that because, he an’t ever gonna work, get down in the dirt, he chooses to cruise?
  19. Heard Tim Vickery, BBC South American Football Correspondent (who lives in Brazil), talking about the depth of the Brazil squad, before the Switzerland game yesterday. He said something like: “Their best midfielder, for me, Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United, hasn’t played yet.” felt a strange glow of vicarious pride and validation for The Bruno. Couldn’t watch it, but noticed he got third best ratings for his half an hour in the game.
  20. RIP. Great player; lovely man; tragic loss. We all need to support men’s mental health. There are a growing number of initiatives now, but the stats haven’t changed in the last thirty years. 75% of suicides per year are by men; only 33% of people who use talking therapy services are men. We can do better. Final word, from a song that never quite took off: ? Gary… Speed! He scores them with his heed. Gary Speed, Gary Speed! ?
  21. England will qualify but I’m far less optimistic. We’ll struggle against better teams. Just hoping Southgate stumbles upon, as Robson did with Beardsley-Lineker in Mexico ‘86, an attacking formation which gets the best out of our squad. I doubt it will happen, but I’d be fascinated to see how Kane and Wilson would link up as a forward two and finding a starting place for Foden. Apart from the obvious goal threat he brings, he is so athletic and combative he brings so much more than Sterling and Saka.
