This was the team for Tranmere. Palace a different proposition, hoping for minimal changes from best current 11, but might see some of below get a run out. Particularly Lascelles.

I was curious to know which teams, in PL era, were most comparable to Sunderland in terms of league position. I’ve grouped the teams who have had between 15 and 18 seasons in the top flight (they’ve had 16) and included ourselves (28) for comparison. Still not answered my question, but not much between them and Middlesbrough. nb. Boro’s average is 21st in the country, there’s is 20th (ours 12th).

We’ve not long since had three games in eight days, with pretty much the same starting line-up. As you say, we’ve a break coming so only change I expect on Wednesday is Joelinton instead of Murphy. Perhaps Wood if Wilson still iffy.

I was wondering, which teams have comparable top-flight, or overall league finishes (1-20 PL, 21-44 Championship, 45-49 D1, 50-74 D2 etc) to Sunderland. Any ideas?

Just saw a glimpse of it, but I think it was first 40 games in charge. Which pretty sure would mean Keegan’s were in second division and not even sure if Eddie has had 40, from first official game in charge. A fairer comparison would be the 33 or so games in this calendar year. Compared to best calendar year for the others.
