That’ll teach me to moderate my initial 4-0 to a (slightly) more conservative 3-0! -
Link not working!!! Eeek where to watch?

For what it’s worth, I think when it comes to mixing football and politics, it is usually right to keep your own counsel. That said, I do think there is only one likely direction of change when insular societies embrace the broader picture of how things are elsewhere in the world. We are not going to see the values and other beliefs of young Newcastle fans veering towards those prevalent in KSA, at least those which jar with modern Britain. We just might see the values and other beliefs of young Saudis shift, at least in those who become obsessed with the closest thing to ‘their’ Premier League team. Keep displaying Pride with pride, keep behaving in a way compatible with our other values, don’t be name-calling disrespectful haters, and who knows how the youth of KSA may be influenced in future.

Poor. Should never miss an opportunity to namecheck Mira!

Why didn’t they include Mirandinha (first Brazilian to play in England, I think…) in list of NUFC Brazilian players? Was it a football didn’t exist before the Premier League kind of question?

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

My heart bleeds for the lad. Who did he think he was going to displace? He opted for predicable bench warming when he had the opportunity to become part of what is being achieved by us in the Premier League. Might be amenable to a January loan deal ? -

Cheeky fuckers! nicking our pearls of wisdom (ish ?) -
Just saying some Geordies support Sunderland. Which is true, to be fair. Just as I guess some Wearsiders support Newcastle. Not sure if term ‘Makem’ is appropriate, for them (…it can get complicated this petty tribalism malarkey) as I am pretty sure it originated, or at least became a generic name/took off, specifically within football as an accent piss take.

Fifteen years you say? There’s been a fair bit of pain in the decades prior to that. -

About to buy Jesus again, for Firmino. Probs means you should bin him. -
So it’s your fault!! At last the senseless pain is explained ?

So is Emery’s latest move sound like going from Villarreal to Villa-fake? Seems a bit like going from Estádio da Luz to The Palladium of Shite.

Their kid is going to have some smile!

I think three of those were January ‘stay-up’ rather than ‘new-normal’ strategy signings and the other’s a keeper who tend to have a longer top level playing career.

Seem to recall 360 being seen as one of the ‘if patter was watter we’d all be drown’ rumour merchants.

Just had a look at what, historically, has been required for a sixth place finish; I’ve used average points per game rather than total points (just to get around the initial 42 game seasons). Graph shows this along with ppg for 1st place, 18th place and ourselves. The average ppg for sixth is 1.61 (most likely to fall between 1.51 and 1.71); the average for the Champions is 2.28 (2.11-2.45 most likely); ours is 1.36 (1.66-1.06 most likely); and relegated in 18th place was 0.94 (1.03-0.85 most likely). Eddie Howe’s NUFC has 1.67ppg (P39 W18 D11 L10).

Great shout -
In terms of which traditional/usual top six sides we might finish above, we have a draw and a win in two of the away games; alongside a very harsh late defeat against a struggling (by their standards) Liverpool side. Win a couple, or three!, of the home games against those three and who knows. I’d also fancy us to take 3 or 4 points off Chelsea. Only Man City and Arsenal look out of reach at the moment.
