It’s the fact that someone is trying to disprove estimates of crowd size that really tickled me. I mean, Howay, ha’way, Howay; have a word with yourself. I was fairly central about 150m from stage on the Moor. Lifted my daughter to video the crowd, it felt immense. Was so packed back towards the food trucks (300m away?) that gave up on the idea of getting food until the event was over. Certainly the biggest crowd I have ever been in.

I’d line to have seen whether a rash of reasonableness had broken out over the trophy celebrations. Like to think I’d have been in a ‘fair play to them’ state of mind, if roles were reversed. Doesn’t seem to be any threads on their RTG forum.

Niche but nice!

From pre parade walk on the beach in Tynemouth, packed Metro in at 2pm, biting wind, to taking over 2 hours to get back to Tynemouth, momentous day. So glad I headed ‘home’ for it and that my kids got to be part of it all.

We’ve got history. My first ever trip to SJP—which was absolutely packed, along with a smattering of tin foil covered cardboard trophies and dancing magpies—was to welcome them back after losing the ‘76 League Cup final. So we used to do that kind of thing (…yes, I do mean lose League Cup finals 😉).

Just build a colosseum (there’s a pun in there somewhere).

I’ve got a ticket but am bringing three kids up with me (and two dogs!) so will—unless I pull off the blag of all blags—just watch the parade. Thinking of being close to Town Moor entrance so I can hear what I’m missing. Can’t quite picture whether if I head for where Princess Mary’s hospital used to be then that would be about the right place. Can anybody help me out?

Anyone else thinking that us keeping our (maybe limited supplies of…) powder dry in last three windows, the reality of playing in Europe next season, the world wide publicity/profile bump around the cup win, and the ownership tasting the reality of us being successful create the perfect conditions for a big transfer window and a markedly improved squad next year?
