They needed a player and saw something in him (unsurprisingly). Credit due for that (though let’s face it they sign enough players to increase the odds of making the occasion great choice). But I give them zero credit for ‘developing’ him.

They did nothing to develop Palmer. They signed him as they needed a player in that position and no doubt promised him a first team opportunity to sign him.
