    What was the score?
  2. Well, yeah, it will be season ticket holders first, then members, then general. Can’t imagine they would change the system they use for every away game. Selfishly hope I’m not wrong because I don’t have a purchase history in the cup this year.

Yep, typical sharpness there from Howe.
  4. Well, yes. Has any club ever done it differently?
  5. At the very least, they should reduce the time for points to drop, and those drops to be steeper. And they should do away with increments of five. And also let me go first.
  6. This still confuses me. Did the Trust head chiefs not give up their tickets too? They just told others to? Is that right?

Yes, I have a distinct memory of us being poor too, which added to the bias made it a horrible Sunday afternoon up until the Les goal. I have said it before, and stats might say otherwise, but us being the ones to get the last minute and undeserved sickener felt like the opposite of what would ordinarily happen to a Keegan Newcastle team. Only other example off the top of my head is the Liverpool game in 95.

Chelsea was Jimmy Hill and the rest of the BBC lot. It was like Chelsea TV. Few more satisfying goals than our last minute equaliser though we naturally fucked the replay

Was in the home end that day, for some bizarre reason.
  10. Reasonably happy with who we got but it is not a good draw for us in general. Of course Man Utd got Charlton.
  11. Quite possibly, yes. But when I was reading the article, it was hard to shake the thought that had Kane scored his penalty (perhaps the fact that he didn’t supports the point, I suppose) the whole thing would have had to have been rewritten. Which does not make solid grounds for a thesis that was presented as definitive. I can enjoy that type of thing for what it is, in small doses, but it doesn’t half come across as pleased with itself despite its quite obvious limitations as analysis. Just lacked that bit of institutional memory in the final third for me, Clive.
  12. Football cliches is excellent. I think Hurrey seems justifiably a bit pissed off about the spurs lad using the general concept of it to make himself the cliche guy- his poetry book of commentary was fucking awful. Totally Football, despite its host being a national treasure, is just silly. The Guardian ran an article after England’s defeat to France being due to the latter’s ‘institutional memory’ of such ties. Which didn’t exist when they played Argentina of course, and would have been harder to sell if Kane had put his penalty away. Just kind of highlights how fatuous attempts to intellectualise football based on single games almost in real time is really. Definitely a place for Goodblatt placing football’s history in a social context, or Wilson using pivotal matches from the game’s annals to riff about wider points related to tactics and the development of the sport, but self-evident nonsense when you’re Carl Anka (?) doing a bad version of that based on a game that was played last Tuesday and could have easily went the other way if not for a close VAR call. And they all do this pained intake of breath before delivering their sermon, as though forewarning us that our tiny minds are about to be blown. It jars horribly with the overall flimsiness of the conclusions being drawn. And they all hate Newcastle as well.

That is the exact type of game and score line that always seemed to happen against us when Keegan was manager. A last minute sickener like that. Seeing us do it to other teams was brilliant and surreal. Still maintain that if Bellamy had stayed fit there was no reason we could not have won the entire thing that year- think Ferguson said the same thing.
  14. Absolutely ludicrous to talk about winning the Champions’ League within ten years.

Not sure we gain much from posting their obvious jokes as though we don’t realise that’s what they’re doing, to be honest.
  16. Imagine winning the first trophy in a lot of our lifetimes and that cunt and the media making it all about him.
  17. Great result, great game. But can we leave off the ‘take that mackems!’ posts please? It’s a wee bit embarrassing
  18. He gave testimony that amounted to ‘He’s fine with me but I don’t know what he gets up to outside of training.’ He also made it clear that he was there because he had been asked to go. It highlights what a stupid pointless thing character references are during trials and not much else.
  19. So because we don’t want grasping parasites to lose a minuscule percentage of their hoardings, people aren’t allowed to tell their mates about a new job?
  20. Yeah, it was announced last time. 8pm kick off on the 3rd.
  21. So he kept his season ticket while telling others to get rid of theirs? Is that right?
  22. He will have barely any stories about being pissed at training and threatening to jaw his manager during a contract renewal stall row.
