    St James' Park

This is largely driven by the Yanks, and why I think American money is much greater existential threat than Gulf cash.
  2. Absolutely dreadful cross. Good job it went in to save his blushes.
  3. As average as we were in parts we had three or four gilt edge chances that we fucked up due to farcical decision making. A bit more clinical and that’s a rout.
  4. “I don’t like it, but unfortunately I don’t have any principles” Incredible stuff. Never change Mr P
  5. If you can’t treat yourself to an absolute stitcher on parade day then when can you.
  6. This. I think we all had an idea of what town would be like when we finally won a trophy. Yesterday exceeded it. Greatest place in the known universe lads. And we live here.
  7. I did wonder how they were going to manage the Town Moor and it turns out they just didn’t. Never got asked for a ticket. Loads of people with cans.
  8. I am wiped after that. Tremendous day. There was a lovely vibe around the place. Newcastle at its best. Shame the Town Moor was baltic.
  9. Despite my initial scepticism I’m really looking forward to today now. Probably helps that the bairn is bursting with excitement like.
  10. Maybe it’s because I’m off the pop, but I’m really not that arsed about the lack of alcohol. It’s a few hours on a field. Hardly embarking on the twelve steps.

There was a Twitter thread years ago from an ex-Vice journalist who claimed he’d been a bit of a pest. Nowt illegal.

A bitter, bitter man who sends questionable DMs to female journalists.
  13. Quansah would be an opportunistic move. It doesn’t appear Slot fancies him. If £30m is accurate there’ll be other teams in for him.

Standard RTG fare. Work themselves into a lather about a load of perceived slights and then resort to telling each other fairy stories about a time they were relevant.
  15. I’m not saying be dicks, but just knock it on the head and stick with a bus parade.
  16. I think a lot of people can be unduly critical of the club on matters of stadium expansion, commercial deals etc but this sounds shit. I appreciate their hands will have been tied by the council who probably want the least hassle possible, but someone at NUFC should’ve been brave enough to put the mockers on this. They need to do the trophy presentation with the team early doors. People who don’t want to knock around for the rescreening, highlights and the rest can leave and don’t need to stand on the Town Moor for four hours.
  17. I’ve drank nothing but since Sunday. I’m going to die.
  18. RCB isn’t an area we can take a punt on potential. We need immediate strengthening. Huijsen would be a great signing.

Sir John Hall is a bit like Kanye West. His earlier work was and remains outstanding, but the less said about his recent behaviour the better.

I’m willing to be that’s the most emotional that man has ever been.

    Alexander Isak

Clubs need to be brands nowadays and the easiest/quickest way to build a brand is to have world class players. PSG is a great example. Hoovering up talent like Neymar, Messi, Mbappe helped them become a massive brand off it. Juve tried similar when they brought Ronaldo in. However both of those examples also show how hard it is to thread the needle between on pitch and off pitch needs. Isak is not in that echelon of player yet, but one day soon he will be. Is the short term PSR benefit of selling him going to outweigh the halo effect he’ll have on Newcastle United from a commercial POV? I doubt it, and the noises from the club suggest they do too.
  22. I can’t remember the match. I remember celebrating the goals, and I can vividly remember the post match celebrations but I’ve completely blanked the match out. Call it a trauma response.
