  1. I reckon there’ll be some hasty drawing up of sponsorship deals to stress test the PL’s new approach.

    St James' Park

Sacrificing the greatest ground location in the country for a few more pennies Honestly question the sanity of any ‘supporter’ who is willing to consider such a ridiculous solution to the stadium situation.
  3. The thing we all know about cup games against lower league opposition is that they’re always representative of wider trends, hence the reason we won the league that season we battered Morcambe 7-0 under Bruce.
  4. Looks the part. Interested to see what he’s like if he has to do any goalkeeping.
  5. He’s had a shite start but the way pundits were talking up West Ham was ridiculous. They signed a load of pretty bang average players but they were meant to be in contention for the top four

    Anthony Gordon

Assume that means an official announcement about his contract this morning.
  7. LIV Golf sponsoring the fence/trip hazard behind the East Stand for a quarter of a billion.
  8. Quite unbelievable that someone has to post this after what is his best ever start to a season with us.
  9. It’s very unusual for him to be titting around with the starting XI so much from match to match. It feels to me like that’s a large part of the reason we look so incredibly disjointed.
  10. It could be the best result for us in the long run. For all the talk from manager and players about how they know we’re not playing at our best, we have still managed to get results. Today proved we can’t skate along and rely on individual moments of quality to bail us out.
  11. Through a series of barely comprehensible events a bloke I used to work with somehow ended up teaching Ryan Taylor and Perchinho how to fish around 2012ish. We were both at a charity coincidentally around about the same time we were also doing fishing lessons with some disabled kids. My colleague told them about this and both Taylor and Perch turned up and spent all afternoon with the kids, getting photos and generally being absolutely fantastic human beings. It wasn’t club mandated, it wasn’t a publicity thing. As far as I can tell they turned up under their own steam as a thank you to my mate. Couldn’t give a shit how hopeless he was at right back, have boat loads of time for Perch (and Raylor) after that.
  12. First four games of that season we deservedly beat the Mackems and Fulham. This season we could have no complaints if we were rooted to the foot of the table with Everton.

    Will Osula

I reckon the plan has been to bring him on when we’re 2/3-0 up and give him some minutes. Instead every match has been a slog.
  14. We played better then than we are now tbf I give Eddie the benefit of the doubt but not starting Barnes was a curious choice. Longstaff over Tonali I could understand to some extent - he’d played twice in a week, wasn’t around on the training pitch - but Barnes guarantees goals at the minute.
  15. Are we shit or are we good? Virtually impossible to tell at the moment. Our performances say one thing, the league the latter. YANITED!
  16. He’s getting on my nipple ends today. Talking absolute shite.
  17. The correct answer is Rivière. Never has the phrase ‘looked like a competition winner’ been more accurate. Pure cut cat shit wrapped in a black and white shirt and asked to save us from relegation. Even his only goal was so dreadfully miss hit that it came of his standing leg and lobbed the goalkeeper. Honourable mention to Jak Alnwick, who appeared off the bench against Chelsea (?) and immediately looked massively out of his depth but because he made a good save got talked about like he was Lev Yashin for a week. Spent the rest of the month playing like he had butter on his gloves, ruining my Christmas as a result. The late Pardew/Carver era was such a bleak time.

Agreed. Seems deeply unfair to expect them to extract materials from deep underground and man the bar the same time.
  19. Another game passes and I’ve no idea if we’re any good or not We’re managing a few issues - patchwork back line, fitness (Gordon looks like a player who missed pre-season) - which is obviously necessitating a way of playing that doesn’t feel natural. Hopefully we’ll get there. The fact we’re unbeaten is absolutely baffling to me, as we could quite easily have 0 points.
  20. I too have got a A-level in Media Studies. I am no fan of British journalism - pop on over to the UK politics thread and find virtually any post I’ve made - but I can’t find anything wrong with Hope’s article. We need to stop being so precious about stuff like this.
  21. I am aware of the Daily Mail. Sensationalist topping and tailing aside, I don’t see too much of an issue with what he’s written. This summer has been a bit of a shambles behind the scenes. Clearly not everything has went to plan.
  22. It’s his job to report on the club. Doubt he’s fabricating all of these stories from nothing. He’s not obligated to protect the reputation of NUFC.
