Was at match so didn't see the forum opinions but surprised at the criticisms re: performance. Thought we dealt with their first half compressed shape well enough and for all the misplaced passes or touches in tight spaces (it's kind of our thing too...not going to fret about it personally, we aren't changing it without signings in that direction) from us we forced plenty of errors on them with our pressing in kind, same applies for later on when shape was more stretched, see Miley who had a few interceptions/tackles in last 20 minutes alongside Joe/Tonali as they tired. Also Bruno looked off the pace but that can marked off as illness, he still produced some flashes when he did find space. Gordon was poor of course but the switch to Barnes on the left delivered a goal. We also used width to counter act their defensive shape with Trippier releasing Barnes well, also borne out from stats showing Tonali/Thiaw/Botman trying and succeeding a fair few cross field passes. Good win without being too taxing. The physical dominance was the difference maker really and we could afford to a) rest some legs later on and b) drain the play and see the game out in a rather perfunctory fashion come the Eddie sanctioned 65th minute subs. It wasn't free flowing football but credit to Athletic for making it a bit more of a slog. Granted, this opinion would be different if they had the Williams bros fit, or if that Boiro raker went in off the post and we were looking at potentially not winning...fine margins.

Any chance of a poll on who is the worse passer between him and Pope? Guy has some Conference level technique. Really sunk all his points into speed over skill.

Not surprised at players like Porro or Spence thinking there's an injustice, more aghast at Ex-Spurs midfielder Jamie 'Gentleman's Agreement' Redknapp getting baz on over the unwritten rules not being applied, same with his insistence on mentioning Liverpool more than once in his analysis of our match. He also calls Fab "Sharr" still, worse than his Lascelles pronunciation for persistence. Glaring signs of mental weakness and softness from Spurs though, long may it continue, going nowhere fast with that type of attitude.

Arse, Chelsea, City and Us semi potential is there then.

That block early doors on Richarlison was magnifique, great pace. He also started the move for the 2nd with a high interception in their half, some signing this guy. Maybe we should just sign the players we want immediately instead of waiting 3 years with endless monitoring?
