  1. Robson wouldn’t have put up with his nonsense for long either. KK would’ve offered his fullbacks outside if they’d continually asked HBA to track back.
  2. Granted, though the Arab states which booted them from the AFC in 1974 hardly have a flawless record in that regard
  3. Israel being part of UEFA rather than AFC was the result of AFC kicking them out in 1974, and has nothing to do with viewing themselves as a European country. I’ve no issue with them being suspended by FIFA for their current human rights violations if this were to happen.
  4. I don’t argue that they aren’t part of a wider metropolitan area, but if NUFC moved their ground to Whitley Bay then they’ve left the city, and that would be it for me.
  5. It isn’t and it wasn’t.
  6. The coast isn’t Newcastle either tbf. I’d rather stay put if the option was a move to Gateshead.
  7. And it is as stupid an idea today as it was then. Moving the club to a different town shouldn’t even be a point of discussion.
  8. An Irish lad at work was banging on the other day about how the country is being swamped and that’s why he headed to Australia. Turns out being a cunt isn’t limited to certain nations.
  9. Absolutely insane decision, though there’s been rumours it’s going to happen for yonks.
  10. They’d still want all of the money mate - FIFA and its national bodies are as corrupt as any club
  11. Isak was in the middle of a two-year-long goalless run for Sweden when we signed him, and he managed to get a few for us. I'm more surprised that anyone watches international football tbh - WCs and Euros are a bit of a bore-fest, being so ridiculously bloated, but qualifiers are so completely without peril that they're a complete waste of time. Just abolish the fucking things, same with international friendlies, and have a tournament with everyone in it every two years. These matches prove that the whole 'the team needs time to work together' line is complete horseshit - every side looks disjointed and half-arsed.
  12. Don't know about that like - I mean, with zero goals and one assist he wasn't exactly winning it alone. His reckless challenge vs Cameroon meant he had a direct hand in as many goals against as for. Quality footballer of course, but I think rose-tinted specs are in force there.
  13. It is hilarious when truly great footballers become football execs and make it obvious why football people don't usually run football. Hoeness is a right tit.
  14. Sorry Uli, but that’s Numberwang
  15. No arguments from me that there are worse places to live - and it has a fair amount going for it - but there just aren’t enough people (and enough wealth) in that catchment area to make it an economic hub.
  16. Not that it measures it, but given the fact this wanker is on the internet, it would be easy enough to find that Newcastle is 80% ‘white’ and Sunderland is 94% ‘white’.
  17. Yep, it absolutely is - which will attract a trickle of tourists.
  18. Newcastle is in the middle of nowhere in UK geographical terms - it isn’t a ‘hub’ or a potential centre of the economy of the north. As much as I love the place, anyone thinking this is indulging in wishful thinking.

BDB gives nowt away in a press conference on England duty The lad is a good pro, he’s going to do nothing but that. He’s hardly likely to say ‘ahm ganna dee the cunt next time ah see him’

My individual moments XI: Gk: Given doesn’t know where Dublin is vs Coventry RB: Hottiger’s bullet vs Blackburn in the FA Cup CB: Albert laughs at Juninho when the little man tries to pick a fight CB: Woodgate takes the ball off a through on goal Hasselbaink without breaking a sweat on his debut vs Chelsea LB: Beresford gets subbed vs Villa for shouting naughty words at KK RW: Ketsbaia gans radge with an advertising hoarding CM: Cabaye’s reverse ‘nee looking’ through ball for Cisse vs Stoke CM: Batty lets Nicky Butt know he isn’t to be trifled with, Man Utd 5-0 LW: Ginola’s juggle and volley vs Ferencvaros CF: Shola nearly takes the net off vs the Mackems, 5-1 CF: Asprilla picks up the corner flag (and a booking) vs Metz, UEFA Cup
  21. I had Domi in my LB list for a bit, and Debuchy was a good RB. I actually forgot Speed somehow, though I’d have wedged him between Clark and Jenas. I always thought his leadership qualities were above his footballing ones for us - not that he wasn’t a really good PL midfielder.
  22. I’ll fix it - looks fine on the PC, looks like a mess on the mobile
  23. Changes to standard formations over time have made this a bit tricky, so I'll just put my top five for each position for the PL era (with double number for CBs, CMs, CFs) - includes some hate figures: GK: Given, Pope, Krul, Dubravka, Harper RB: Trippier, Livramento, Watson, Hughes, Venison LB: Elliott, Hall, Jose Enrique, Bernard, Beresford CB: Woodgate, Botman, Schar, Burn, Albert, Coloccini, Howey, Peacock, Lejeune, Dabizas RW: Solano, Gillespie, Murphy, Milner, Fox CM: Bruno, Lee, Tonali, Cabaye, Batty, Dyer, Clark, Jenas, Joelinton, Wijnaldum LW: Robert, Ginola, HBA, Gordon, Gutierrez CF: Beardsley, Shearer, Isak, Wilson, Ferdinand, Cole, Ba, Bellamy, Cisse, Owen
  24. He controls in effect about one quarter of Spurs' shares, based on his ENIC holdings and ENIC's share of Spurs
  25. Plenty of away fans I have spoken to over the years love sunderland away as a fixture. It gives them a night on the piss in Newcastle
