  1. It’s a pointless argument but are forest bigger than us? Arsenal and Tottenham are the biggest teams / clubs in London . West Ham and Chelsea next. then Fulham, QPR , Charlton and Millwall
  2. I’ve got a 14 year old son - I’d say that kid is at least 15. Nufc cap it off at 12 which is sensible. however old the lad is he’s gonna get ripped at school off his mates

    Alan Shearer

I think it’s a gossy high accent (the posh estate kids don’t speak like that and the kids who went to Kenton from the grange where Al was brought up don’t speak like that either). But scenty bottle isn’t it - Bruce’s can be similar despite being brought up in Walker

    On this day...

37 years ago today I went to my first game - Newcastle 1 - Portsmouth 1. 2 sent off. Mirindinha equalised for us. Remember the sights and sounds Was 6 years old. This quote from Sir Bobby is spot on imho: “What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.” Thanks Dad.

Interesting - the lower percentages broadly correlate with either recent success or legacy status (Everton). Few outliers though - Bournemouth at the bottom end. Luton and Wolves you'd expect would have had more "local" fans than us but they're smaller regional centres so maybe t's economics with more moving away for work...
  8. So did JFK.. when he wanted to sign him from Birmingham (where he was on loan from us...)

The branch thing is odd. Not really a thing for us - I mean for away games people go with Fez, or Simon or John A like they used to with Keith B or Swifty but for places relatively close we don’t (to my knowledge) have branches from Woolsington or cramlington etc? Or do we ?
  10. Sorry it’s a forum so I should elaborate but I personally think that’s absolute shite. I still think Tripps had a lot to offer
  11. QF first mate but hope we’re in the Semis after

    Match Atmosphere

Even aways are a lot poorer now - even PSG away in CL where you allegedly needed 100+ points but it was a different crowd to other games of that difficulty on tickets (thinking Zulte Waregem away when we only got 650 tickets due to safety concerns)

    Match Atmosphere

I think a lot of it is the modern world. Those of us who remember queuing to pay on the turnstile, getting in the ground early, standing in uncovered ends are now all 40+ and(me included) not as vocal / pissed / lairy as I once was. The standard of the football on the pitch is better but the stadiums are safer less edgy (not a bad thing btw), the younger Radge element are priced out (surveys proved we have more season ticket holders in ne2,ne3 n e20, etc than ne4/5/6/15)) or unable to get tickets on the day which was part of the culture. Even if a group of young lads can get tickets it’s unlikely they’ll be able to attend together. the premier league has become a day out rather than just about the football snd getting behind the lads. I’ve see. People buying these Chinese salt and pepper chicken bowls .. there’s delays been pies and the infamous magpie burger but if you cannot watch for 90 mins without some scran … im ranting now but another poster summed it up that lots of fans (not supporters) are there to experience an “atmosphere” they are not able or willing to contribute to.
