Cant even be unlucky to draw with Spurs after deserving to have won comfortably now without everything being 'shit' and 'pathetic' ffs Its a 7th-10th result in a 7th-10th season thats never looked like being anything better if were honest

Everton remains the exception for a game that reflected our chances and control - the anti mackems
-
The natives are revolting. They're not happy with their team and manager either.
-
They fell below Liverpool with that beating.
-
Two years in a row of absolutely no title race. Bravo powers that be.
-
Were not challenging for Europe this season so they'd be right

If any set of fans could like a player that scored twice against them for their local rivals in a comfortable beating and scored a goal that helped win your rivals a cup - the two worst things that could happen to them - just because we don't like him anymore, it'd be them. Upsetting Mags trumps damage to themselves.

Ironically against Portsmouth the following season.

and Chris Waddle. Surprised Bilbao Black Cats hasn't tried to twin the clubs with this amount of evidence.

Seen one of those the other week (think a Sheffield Wed game) with the shot going straight at the keeper. What!? he's hit it so well he hasn't directed the shot in the slightest away from the person he's supposed to be beating with it.

What a position we'd be in with a win here. Would disconcert actually. A draw would keep the ticking over, solid results going. After Benfica and Athletic a revenge tour hat-trick would sit nicely. Very hard to call.

Mentioned him in the famous fans thread several years back

Just looking at that picture of Ayresome Park, for the league cup tie in 92 with the away end closest to camera, it had to be one of those alleyways of the houses lined up behind that on our way there a bloke in front of us was hooked in for a beating, like being fished off a stage, so effeciently that it was obviously old hat. He wasn't wearing any colours that I recall and wouldn't surprised if it was a case of any old port in a storm. Sunderland was sheepish by comparison. Don't even dislike Boro and retrospectively think were it not for being in the same region for local news (back in the day a Boro bias was detectable) and then the Legends on Century there wouldn't have been a rivalry at all at our end. Played them 14times in my first five years going and not at all in the last 14 helps.

Thats the cycle. In a different universe to them for most of the 90s, KK beat them every time then they win one game and finish a few places above us and I regretted not rubbing their noses in the dirt the way they do over the slightest thing. Then made the same mistake all over again 01-Ashley. Seemed obvious when we were playing champions league games in March while they were breaking record low points and getting relegated that the day was ours. Will never learn that small victories over us IS their champions league, KK era, cup finals/wins.

Felt like every signing bar Woltemade was a squad signing. Thiaw and Ramsdale have turned out to squad improvements offset by the Wissa injury, Ramsey being a seat filler and Elanga a dud. Was fairly obvious we'd gone backwards albeit not of our own making before having to face CL football. Just said in the match thread, its 97/98 revisited with Isak's sale being the Shearer injury before a ball was kicked.

Knew it would be worth screenshotting and remembering names of people that agreed it was a 'downbeat assessment' of me to suggest after Villa on day one that we were going nowhere. Had a feeling the same people would not only be proven wrong but would be slaughtering the players and manager in due course as if this isn't all a surprise to them. Its basically the only satisfaction I've got out of the PL season. Its pap but was braced for it, never thought CL on top of being held back by the rules already would be conducive to anything but a decline in league season and have abandoned the idea of being at the top because of said rules. Wouldn't trade CL football (again) and a cup to compete for the Europa or Conference league at best which was the most likely case this season. Its 97/98 revisited.

Ince from Wolves to Blackburn style move. Got a bit of momentum going and possibilities to move forward with a club and trading it in for a similar sized club thats not far off maxed out on what it can achieve.

Except Norwich, who couldn't even shift their complimentary tickets

Helps validate a long standing illicit feeling view of mine of Liverpool being worse than Man United

Probably getting mixed up with the FA Cup game like the rest of us
