  1. I think the big difference is that season we missed out on Europe in 7th as Man utd won the fa cup and also didn't spend anything, this season we have spent £250m and sit in 14th.
  2. Sunderland bought a keep for £11m who's better than our 2, we also lost out on Trafford with 2 months left to replace him so that's our fault if we have been left with them 2. We can't use fixture congestion as an excuse, palace played Thursday.
  3. Said it after the Sunderland he struggles with anyone quick and physical, knew Mateta would change the game and then that needless pull was just daft
  4. We didn't control the game at all, we had 1 clear cut chance which we scored, we were also playing a team who were sat below in the league who played 3 days earlier and rested their 3 best players, on top of that their manager is leaving at the end of the season. They won 1 In 10 home games in the league... Regardless of the penalty it was a very poor performance.
  5. That result for me has made me come to terms with it's time for a rebuild and a new manager to do so I think. I adore Eddie and he will go down as my favourite manager but I do think this is far as he can take the team We spent £165m on 3 players sat on the bench today whilst we have Murphy on the wing. 3 weeks after the Sunderland game I really thought a reaction wouldn't be hard to get but the same performance and tactics. We watch Palace make 3 changes that change the game for them then we make changes far too late again. To be sat 14th, 4 points behind Sunderland after spending £250m in the summer is just not good enough.
  6. I keep saying it but I don't see Spurs as a threat to stop us achieving as they follow the rules and aren't a good side. It's the other clubs who clearly are getting away with overspending
  7. A Sunderland win could see them have a very outside chance of finishing in conference league, imagine if they got Europe and did the double over us and finished above us all in the same season ..I don't think It will happen but I'd far rather a Spurs win to prevent that than Spurs going.
  8. Every club would do the same in that position, if the shoe was on the other foot do you think our owners wouldn't do the same? Every single owners will do what ever is best for their club in that sense.
  9. Agree to disagree but Spurs aren't a threat to us, they financially have constantly played by the rules unlike Chelsea, having Sunderland in Europe would be awful.
  10. It won't be fun at all, I'd rather them never be in Europe.
  11. A hope Spurs win 5-0 and every Newcastle fan should. The hate for Spurs is bit cringe imo. People say cartel etc but they financially are a very well ran club (not performance wise obviously) and haven't bent the rules like Chelsea.
  12. Yep probably that's what annoys me it should be the be and end to beat them after the defeat to at their place.
  13. We absolutely need to get behind the Manager and team until the end of the season but I disagree on the Sunderland point, it should ruffle our feathers in my opinion. That performance should of been one the players were bang up for particularly after the performance at their place and conceding 7 the game before. The effort between their players and ours were night and day, maybe I think too emotionally but I can't accept less than 110% effort in a derby its not good enough, and in that fixture whether we like to admit it or not tactically their manager out done us and made positive changes at half time whilst we did'nt and let them get a foothold in midfield. I really do think today we need to see a performance today of intent and effort after our last showing. As ever EH BNW army!
  14. Why do a few people keep bringing this up for, it's the same for every club who plays in Europe. What's the outcome we never strive for Europe because we get less time to train?
  15. Can't use the no striker argument when we spend 115m on 2 and have a £50m striker on the bench every week.
  16. That's the media I guess and it's the same for every club, in fact likes of Slot and Rosenior in headlines far more. I don't get people mentioning extra games though as it's the same every season if you get into Europe, Villa managed 66 points whilst in the champions league, I know we had some Transfer windows we couldn't spend but I think 250m spent on the squad should be enough for some form of Europe and hopefully it still will be. Hopefully a good run to end of season and early transfer targets for Eddie/Wilson will allow a squad more time together.
  17. There's still far more sensible fans those than stuff you see on social media.I want Eddie to stay and have a chance to rebuild and I think he will. I do feel though people who are unhappy with recent performances are being made out to be fickle or deluded which I don't think is fair either, the Sunderland game they wanted it more and outran us in the 2nd half, the player's looked like they weren't up for it all which rang alarm bells, no set of fans takes well to a derby defeat. In regards to the Liverpool final though football is always judged on recent form, we have lost 4 out of our last 5 premier league home games to Villa, Brentford, Everton and Sunderland conceding 10 goals and sit below the latter on the league in April which let's be honest is not good enough given the money spent in the summer and the fact they've been out of the league for 10 years. I want Eddie to stay and rebuild but I think this we are a spoilt or deluded fan base is nonsense, every club would react the same after losing to their biggest rivals for the 2nd time in the season and sat 12th in April it's the nature of that fixture and football. I hope the players show a reaction and we can finish on a high and let Eddie rebuild.
  18. This is getting massively blown out of proportion, I love Eddie Howe as do vast majority of fans, we are not the most ungrateful or deluded fanbase because the team and manager come under criticism after being embarrassed by our biggest rivals at home. The negativity is down to being outfought and out battled and the fact out rivals were up for it more than we were, I was angry when a section booed at the Brentford game but I'm not surprised fans are upset after the derby when we out ran in a game of that importance. Whatever said and done Eddie will go down as a club legend and his love for Newcastle will run deep no doubt.

    Growing Pains

I think this past week has certainly split opinions... People will see in the match atmosphere thread I want a positive fan base who gets behind team no matter what but I don't agree with alot of opinions that "we only demand a team that wins" or expectations are too high. We are sat bottom half after getting beat off our rivals again which hurt most as their players wanted it more. Also the team have been applauded off in every away defeat I have been to this season, every other fan base would of reacted the same after Sunday's defeat. Equally those who do nothing but criticise likely forget past seasons or the Ashley period and the way the club was ran, Eddie Howe is without a doubt my favourite manager, winning a trophy tops any other achievement and he always reacts in such a class manner compared to other managers. Which either side of the fence your on I think we all agree that the run of games until the end of the season is huge, if we don't see a reaction after the derby defeat I think it will ring alarm bells let's be honest. I'd actually like to see big Nick up top every game until then end of the season, no one questioned his performances v forest Everton Arsenal etc so let's get behind the lad.
  20. My biggest worry in all honesty is we rolled over for our biggest rivals on Sunday and players were out fought out worked out battled out ran, particularly in 2nd half...there was no reaction from the Barcelona 2nd half...I honestly thought the players would be so pumped up and wanting to show the fans a reaction and there was nothing...not one yellow card in a derby..
  21. Disagree with that, I can't think of a manager's name sang as much as Eddie Howes and we are one of few clubs at away games who stay to end and support and clap players off after defeat. Villa fans have given emery a lot of stick recently and a lot of Everton fans wanted Moyes gone at Christmas, Brighton were booed off twice for getting beat and sat mid table, it was only last week Sunderland were saying Le Bris could be moved on in summer. We are sat 12th with more losses than wins and spend a fortune in the summer, I love Howe and always will as i never thought I see us win anything after 20 off years following us home and away that been said I also understand why some fans think it's time for a change, yesterday was first time I thought the players don't seem up for, sad it was in a derby but generally that 2nd half looked like the players didn't want to know which is opposite to our blueprint for the last few years.
  22. I think next season he needs to be a squad player, got far too tight to Brobbey yesterday 4 times in first half and got turned, he seems to do it a lot, I remember DCL and solanke turning him in Identical scenarios as well.

    Match Atmosphere

Also young lads up in level 7 were very loud TBF, needs to be a standing section up there.

    Match Atmosphere

I was shocked how bad they were until they scored, mustered a red n white army once. Generally think as much as fans create atmosphere the performance could of made it unbelievable, at 1-0 loudest I heard leazes and level 7 in long time, then we sat back deeper and deeper.

    Match Atmosphere

A thought first half was very good for most, 2nd half tailed off to more frustration but in fairness the performance was so toothless, I'm as critical as anyone for atmosphere but I sitting back 2nd half and inviting pressure after first half seemed to stop momentum.
