I'd like to see us do this, but players who tick both boxes are probably the most in demand players going. Rice cost a fortune and you an argue he needs support to progress the ball, Rodri is probably the best example of doing both very well, imagine how much Man City would want for him.. Liverpool couldn't get Zubimendi Villa went with Onana, I'm one of the few people who rates him and think he'll develop well under Emery
  2. To think I didn't want Madueke at the beginning of the last transfer window He looks great
  3. Would love a player like Lavia for us
  4. Not for me, Gordon is at his best running into space, and in general just being in a position where he can use his pace If he played as a 10 it'd be the most congested place on the pitch and we'd lose what he's good at
  5. Kudus surely wanted to be send off there, don't believe he can be that stupid to do that
  6. Tbf I don't think he is as slow as people make out, like Burn or even Schar etc, just he has no acceleration like most really big footballers so in short distances he ain't gonna look quick. Haaland, Van De Ven are pretty rare in what they have imo Hope he doesn't lose anymore after the ACL though
  7. Thanks for this Would make sense that City didn't challange FFP as a whole, as they are one of clubs who benefit the most with their enormous revenues Would love it if we piggy backed on this and kicked up a fuss
  8. Did City challange the fact that the rules /FFP are anti-competitive and exist to maintain the status quo, or was this just on the fair market value /sponsorship stuff? Just curious as I'm assuming the PL successfully argued the case if it was brought up and I'd love to know their reasoning
  9. Hopefully Gordon can draw a few yellows and a penalty off them, no doubt they'll want to clatter him when they hear the boo's
  10. Come to think of it, I really don't like our midfield balance despite thinking we have some very good and talented / unique players there We never look good without Bruno, big Joe and little Joe can't play together in a 3, and seemingly can't play on the right hand side. Longstaff is our weakest and least talented, but one of our most trusted & reliable in a positional sense I think we have to give him a new contract, primarily so we don't lose him on a free, and I think getting a back up midfielder would be a waste of money considering our PSR situation and priorities, Tonali still working his way into the team etc
  11. Osula is rapid, and massive. Be good to see him against some higher lines
  12. This, hopefully Silverstone fancies doing some overtime if this ruling allows us more favourable sponsorships

    Marc Guehi

It's funny as in the past we've often 'bought the dip' and this seems very much a dip in his form, and Palace in general. But we very much showed our hand in the summer, so wonder how negotiations would go if we went back in for him

    Nick Pope

Surely Pope would be worth loads to any team to don't play with a high line / play out from the back? He's an unreal shot stopper Cant say I watch them, but wouldn't he do well at West Ham who sit deep and don't really play 'football' as most teams try to?
  15. I was thinking more bigger picture / long term direction of the club and not week in week out, but I get your point.
  16. What about if he thinks the style of play isn't effective in the long term, particularly if Howe was to ever leave, and they were very much suited to his system, and not a system more widely used by top / successful teams? I'm purely talking on a hypothetical here, just think it's interesting to consider. For instance, I can't imagine Liverpool ever touching Conte or Mourinho, because the players they have wouldn't suit their defensive style (never mind their recent issues) , and they wouldn't want to chop and change the squad to suit it
  17. In light of the lengthy run of poor performances and the fact we have Mitchell now who'll be thinking of a sustainable style of play going forward, could anyone see him wanting us to play with a more athletic / defensive minded midfielder and a shift in midfield tactics? Was thinking all of the top sides have someone like so - City - Rodri, Arsenal - Rice, Chelsea - Lavia, Villa Onana, Madrid - Tchouenemi, Liverpool were on the market for one, Tottenham fans want one etc etc The top teams also have someone who is able to support the DM and progress the ball (we have Bruno) , or they invert a full back (I think Hall would be good at this) Just wondering if it's something that could happen with the changes, I think it's something that would improve us imo. Though not sure what established players are on the market, I know Liverpool couldn't get Zubimendi so I doubt we could either 😂
  18. Was that for the challange or kicking the ball away? 😂 Fuck Arsenal and all the teams who are for FFP 🎉
  19. Walker was disgraceful on that corner
  20. Yeah, I think Villa are a 'high floor' team, especially considering the way they recruited in the summer. Whereas we have had some outstanding games and blew teams away in impressive manner Then again, I remember watching Villa vs Man City last season and I thought that was the best I'd ever seen a team play against City, absolutely dominated them
  21. Then add 500m spend to this squad, if anything there expectations should be way higher than ours
  22. I should have explained more, but they spent more before we got took over. What Emery inherited was way better than What howe inherited There squad was better than ours to start, then we spent equally once we got took over based on what you provided
  23. We had a headstart with the managers compared to Villa, since we got Howe a year or so before they got Emery But their club was way ahead of us in terms of the academy, selling Grealish, others etc which has helped FFP They have also managed the FFP situation way better than us, flipping players, more dodgy deals etc They also sold their best midfielder and opted to recruit an array of players, giving them depth, again something we don't and haven't done, we prefer to add a backup / future signing, or an expensive one They've also recruited well from lower placed teams / champo teams, Archer and Duran look quality and will no doubt be valued highly if they want to sell them As for Howe V Emery. I really rate Howe, and maybe blind bias but I always refer to the first 1.5 seasons as what he does for us, and think it will get better. Though Villa do play a more sustainable style of football, and don't need to overpower teams to win. That can only help over the long term, plus managing injuries etc
