  1. Same problem as all year really, if a team presses us, we are fucking shit
  2. Pretty poor - why are we so bad at passing? Every time a team presses us we're helpless. Feels like they're 4v2 in the middle all the time and one of our 2 is Longstaff. There's a chance there for Isak at some point and improved a bit when we went more man for man. Desperately short of technical quality though, Bruno and Isak aside.
  3. Great performance in the last game, in pole position for Europe, players starting to come back. Based on how this season's gone so far it feels like it's time for fate to do a massive poo in our cornflakes.

    Joelinton

Bruno not getting his hair done with him? Worrying.
  5. Yeah, i mean I don't think anyone doubted he was talented, but the fee we paid was sort of proven elite player money, and he maybe wasn't quite that at that point. All transfers are a bit of a gamble though & it's worked out well. After all, you pay for what you expect them to do in the future.
  6. To be fair at the time we'd paid £60+million for a striker who'd scored 6 goals in 32 league games in the previous season. For comparison Nicholas Jackson has 10 in 29 this year. McTominay has 7 in 27.
  7. Slavery was banned years ago mate, try contacting GB News if you're unhappy about it.
  8. Eddie's quite reserved and politic in interviews. I wouldn't say in front of the cameras he necessarily comes across as the kind of guy you'd want to hang out and eat wotsits with like De Zerbi, or go out, get bladdered and chin people with like Dyche, or go out and take some pills and rave to techno all night with like Ten Hag.

    Alexander Isak

Long way to go before they catch our Maddison one!
  10. Thought the first decision was no penalty for the same reason I didn't think our second pen vs WHam was a pen - defender was trying to kick the ball, had a clean line to it and the attacker moved infront of his path as he was kicking. I didn't think Young was careless or reckless personally so even through there's contact no foul for me. 2nd I don't have a problem with no handball. His arm was out a little bit but I didn't think it was 'making his body unnaturally bigger' personally. 3rd looked most like a foul of the three but the highlights I saw didn't have the best angle tbh. They absolutely shouldn't be publicly accusing people of corruption. That sort of shit from clubs needs to stop.
  11. Ah yeah I think you're right unfortunately - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13092463/NEWCASTLE-NOTEBOOK-Callum-Wilson-Toon-Sandro-Tonali-Dan-Ashworth-spy.html "Tonali stuck behind closed doors Sandro Tonali will not be allowed to feature in Newcastle's pre-season friendlies this summer, Mail Sport understands. The Italian is also still awaiting the outcome of a Football Association investigation into whether he gambled on football AFTER his £52m move to Newcastle in the summer." https://theathletic.com/5375478/2024/03/28/sandro-tonali-betting-ban-newcastle/ "and Newcastle’s understanding is that he also cannot take part in mid-season or pre-season friendlies," [love the fact the club doesn't even seem sure ] Tbh I've kind of tuned out all the Tonali stuff since the ban so he'll feel like an absolutely brand spanking new signing.
  12. Think he can play in friendlies fortunately https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/sandro-tonali-train-play-friendlies-newcastle-10-month-ban-2712861, unless something changed since.

    St James' Park

I've said before, as long as it's made of sandstone and has a giant statue of Alan Shearer teabagging Niall Quinn out the front I'm happy. And a moat. If we budge it so there's a bit more room it should also have a moat.
  14. Love it. Howey's a great story teller
  15. Wait, what chair's that? There's a Dunelm near me and I wouldn't mind a new chair tbh.
  16. Also Wilson's got that proper centre forward 'I'm the main man' ego about him (in a good way). The massive media wankfest about Isak will bring out the best in him.

    Harvey Barnes

Wonder what Gordon's xA was there.
  18. I think xG's useful, but like all stats it has its limitations. You could create nothing all game and then two defensive cockups gift you a couple of gilt edge chances and suddenly it looks like you created a bit. It's most useful when supplemented with the eye test I think. Also, if someone puts a great cross across the 6 yard box and an attacker is a barleycorn away from making contact and putting it in an empty net - is that counted for xG/xA? Or is it not added to those stats as there's no contact to measure the potential shot from? Also I agreed with TCD that PSG battered us for the entire second half in Paris and we probably should have conceded at least 3 in the second half.
  19. Yeah, I deliberately included 'at the moment' for that reaseon Looks like a long night for Everton.
  20. BTW, did anyone else know Everton have comfortably the fourth best defensive record in the league at the moment? Conceded 7 fewer than Spurs and Villa and 6 fewer than Man U. They can't score, but still impressive.
  21. Just as perhaps an alternative point of view - club that overspends and doesn't adhere to profit and loss rules risks going into administration... you could say that's kind of why the rules are there.
  22. I could see him going to Saudi for a couple of years for a final big payday.
  23. Yeah, I mean small sample sizes can create unusual statistics but I think they look a dangerous trio. Bags of pace and movement, all three will get goals, the two wide players can both go inside or out and Isak can play off the last man or drop deep and link play.
  24. I agree I love the NUFC badge - think it would look great on streetwear as well. Our current badge, which I also like, is a bit more boulevard than street. If I was in the commercial department I'd be trying to flog the NUFC logo on every clothing item available.
