This whole transfer saga has been baffling from word go. But latest ‘theory’, Liverpool know we won’t budge on price (£130m+), and know Isak wants the move (and could try and force it further by transfer request), that they have leaked to press that no talks are happening and won’t go above £120m to force the last hand by Isak/his agent if they’re really desperate for move, and hope it then forces our hand to accept a lower offer.

Big clubs always get the rub of green.

We seriously can not sell for £120m, which is literally like £5m more than a month ago and all the shit it’s caused us this month. That has to be flat out refused and I fucking hope we told Isak it’s like £135m minimum and if he wants a move, best get his agent to tell Liverpool that. Be a laughing stock if we sold him for £120m.

Barcelona home first game is ideal. Proper up for it, smash them like we did PSG. Hopefully qualified as we go into final game.

It’s not delusion, it’s seeing the qualities he had, progression he was making that season and confidence he was going into that summer as 4th choice CM that was firmly pushing Joelinton to take his starting place. Guy was also persuaded by Southgate leading into 2024 not to join Scotland because the FA were keen on him. Many people knew the ability was there.

Unless we’ve agreed behind closed doors with Liverpool on the fee (I.e £125m plus add ons), there’s no way in a million years we sign another striker first. As if no fee is agreed, and we’ve got another striker coming in for £65m, Liverpool know we HAVE to sell because we’ll badly need that money, so they’ll come back with same offer. Our position is weakened by signing another attacker first. If things have not been agreed, it’s far too late now in the window to do this deal.

I firmly believe he would’ve of. Like we’ve seen with Tino, Hall, Burn, they’ve all been capped under Howe. Don’t know why people think Anderson would not develop under Howe. Said it before, the season before he was sold he played a lot for us, was looking good (but still development needed) when he was playing the LCM / LW role. He just got an untimely injury which then saw Miley get minutes during middle part of season, but Anderson was back for 2nd part of season and that was why Ashworth was looking at Joelinton being an option to move and Anderson the successor. Howe was gutted to see him go as he himself likely felt the same, and 12 months later we’ve spent £39m in signing Ramsey to replace Anderson. End of 23-24, he was ahead of Hall and Tino in the game time and trust stakes.

Just Gordon fying back home.

Agree. Likely be a bit of short term pain as we transition, but once dust settles and our new signings in full flow under Howe, we’ll be better for it long term. Key we get Tino, Hall, Tonali and Bruno tied down on new deals though by the season ends so we can go into summer with the main guys secured. Rest are fair game.

Those fees need balancing out over those years, can’t just go with notion Isak balances out this year and we can spend, as future years those payments are due. Even at 10%, that’s say nearly £7m. Next summer we need to sign a GK, RB, LB and CB likely at a minimum. Then not long after that, another CM and RW depending on futures of Willock and Murphy as we go into 26/27 season. All on top of new deals needed for many players.

I mean he was shite. No pathway to us and loans doing no good. A fee and banking some value is best for all parties. He can now make a career bouncing around Europe every 18 months.
