STM
Alot depends on the opposition. If we are away at City or Chelsea I wouldn't line up the same as in a home game. We don't want to change our team for the opposition like Pardew but we also have to be realistic.
TRon
Based on not much at all: Striker Perez De Jong Wilnaldjum Sissoko Tiote I like the idea of a diamond with what we have at the moment, as we don't really have any good wingers. Not sure McClaren has ever played that way though. Genuinely no idea. Also cast Tiote out of that lineup please. This formation relies heavily on the wingbacks tearing up and down both attacking and defending. would love to see it! It would be interesting to see if McClaren favours that system. With our plethora of wingers who cut inside or can't cross for shit, it might be the best option. Or we could sign a real winger.

The whole point of having a squad is so that you can change your team/formation depending on a number of factors, one of them being the strengths of the opposition. Tiresias
I have a suspicion that the club are wanting to sell cabella or sissoko but probably not both
NoU
I think McClaren will go 4-3-3 with something like Mitrovic Cabella De Jong Wijnaldum Sissoko Tiote for mid/attack
Dan Gleebals
It will all depend on if/who we get in at the back IMO. Bring in or try and get a really solid CB partnership going and I think he might go something like Striker Rolando/Perez De Jong Cabella Sissoko Wijnaldum Otherwise he will have to find space for Tiote/Colback
BONTEMPI
no matter how much i f*** around with personnel and formations i just can't get anything that suits, best i can come up with atm is this with the width having to come from jamaat & haidara, plus sissoko and wijnaldum using their pace and power to make runs into the channels: mitrovic de jong cabella wijnaldum anita sissoko This with Perez over Cabella. keep forgetting fucking perez for some reason, doing my head in tbh when de jong loses another internal organ that'll look good with perez in his spot and cabella on the right Were you too drunk to remember. Chicken Dancer
I think McClaren will put Sissoko wide, for some reason. Wijnaldum and Colback/Tiote in the middle, with de Jong ahead. Leaving Cabella, Aarons & Perez to fight it out for left wing. If we sign Mitrovic, I'd still be starting Cisse ahead of him. Really, really hope not. Looking forward to watching Sissoko under proper management.

We don't want to change our team for the opposition like Pardew but we also have to be realistic. Team and formation should not be changed. You just have a more defensive approach. For example our rb & lb should not support attack so much and keep a DM home when attacking etc. Bascially rely on counter attack - hit them on the break. Imo we should keep formation and players for every game.
Sir Toon
Do people not believe the 'spin' that has been released by the club in order to sell season tickets like? This is going to be the line up. Krul Janmaat, Matip, Coloccini, Abdennour, Haidara Tiote, Sissoko, Colback Thauvin, Wijnaldim, Anita, Mitrovic, de Jong, Perez, Aarons Austin, Cisse

Paully
Colo has to be the worst captain at any club ever basically. Wants away, never speaks, crumbles under pressure, doesn't trust his teammates. Dat choice. Michael Owen. Owen scored a few goals with the armband. Not enough, but a few. Better contribution than Colo. Ha ha ha! What a load of bollocks! Guest reefatoon
He is really. Shows absolutely nothing, but since it's Ajax he came from and not Sunderland it gets overlooked. Offers zero just like Colback. It's a nightmare pairing in the middle.
AyeDubbleYoo
It's not a not a good pairing, aye, Colback is terrible and they don't complement each other.
Guest reefatoon
Watched that game back there before and Colback is getting slated but Anita wasn't. I thought he was just as shit and anonymous, but for some reason he always gets a pardon. They are both as weak as piss in the middle, like to hide and treat the ball like a hot potato. would be happy to see them both replaced with much better options. Offers zero just like Colback. It's a nightmare pairing in the middle. They might offer nothing when paired together in the same lineup. They do contribute far more with different players around them though. Especially Anita who can move the ball quicker in midfield than anyone else in our squad. thenige
Personally think Anita is a bit of a nothing player. Think he switches off too often, both on and off the ball. His first touch isn't great and his passing is average. Just a bang average footballer, with the added disadvantage of being tiny in a Premier League midfield. David Silva, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Lennon, Nathan Dyer, Leon Britton, Joe Allen - they've all proved to be very capable at this level. I don't buy into the argument that you can be 'too small', certainly as a midfielder. Personally I think Anita's development has been completely crippled under our previous set up. He won titles with Ajax, playing a certain brand of football - if he'd joined Swansea for instance, he'd have fitted in seamlessly to their midfield. He's been grossly misused under Pardew and then Carver.
