Newcastle 0 - 2 Manchester City - 02/01/08 - post match reaction from page 24

Just watched the first half on football first. Newcastle just shaded it on chances, but Man City were more clinical. The referee got the Onuoha decision wrong and then for them to score straight after was pot luck. As for Elano's challenge, I thought it probably should have been a red card.

martins looks well short of confidence, owen looked like he could have scored and is a proven goalscorer, how was it a stupid sub?

Martins worked the channels, stretched them, created room for others. Owen needs service.

That's not the point, it's the result that's important. Sam got it proper' wrong playing 4-4-2, and 4-3-3 the other week. Should try a 1-1-8 we'd score loads of goalz, I mean goals...

If he had been on a few mins longer he would have put away that first chance imo.

Maybe so. It was the only decent ball we played up to him that I can remember.

If we HAD given him another one he would have scored his strike rate says so.

;)

Joking aside we have basically been set back by two bad descisions in two big games. But that will average out as the season progresses.

Generally happy tonight.

Zoggy was magnificent as was Faye. Beye gave Petrov as good a game as any full back this season at a guess.

charlie was a perfect example of our problems tonight

until he switched from left back he was our most dangerous player by far and that's simply 'cause when he gets the ball at left back he almost always skins a player then takes the ball forward and one-twos or whatever moving the play on

EVERYONE else on the pitch shits themself when they get the ball and hits it long (or are being told to) and thus we mever create anything

the moment charlie moved to left wing we never saw him again for the simple reason that HE wasn't there to bring the ball out of defence and pass it to himself

anyone any good at cloning?

We created some good chances first half and thaught we would go on to win had we put one of those chances away. But same old Newcastle eh...all the chances but can't put them away. And then what happens ? City go up the other end and score. It's the same old story at home and i'm sick of it.

We were dreadfully poor again second half.

Viduka ? Fucking waste of space, Martins the same.

Whats Sam playing at playing 2 defensive midfielders at home in a 4-4-2 formation or whatver the fuck it was.

People are blaming the players, twice i seen Pearson call Butt and Faye over to give them both a bollocking and they looked fucking clueless, didn't have a clue what they were meant to be doing.

The only place we are going is down !

Faye? He was our best player along with N'Zogbia today.

Perhaps he was asking Faye if he knew what the fuck Butt was doing

Relegation boys and girls. Start contemplating it because we a re seeing relegation form on a regular basis this season. Portsmouth and Derby County performances belong to a team going down.

Forget the Stoke game, Play the reserves in that. We need all our efforts to get points to stay in the Premiership.

That is all that matters now. i can't see where the nextr points are coming from. We need 40 points asap.

Doug.

Sam is so desperate for a win. So I guess it will be the best ( :cheesy:) line-up against Stoke. -But yes; we can lose it anyway...

Parky, you are a well respected chap on this here forum but how the f*ck you can can use such emotive words to describe to the performance of a player on the losing side (playing out of position granted) as 'magnificent'? No f*cking way can I accept that man.

Also, it's a fallacy this notation of 'good/bad decisions will even themselves out over the season. B*llshit. It's exactly the same as going to the casino and putting your money on red or black......it 'should' even itself out but hey man...this is not always the case. It truly has to be over the long run and frankly 38 games is not enough time for decisions to even them selves out.

'At a guess' (quote) is neither use to man or beast chap. Not exactly nailing your opinion to the mast is it? Maybe done to provoke comment........you have succeeded chap.

Even with the right players at his disposal, Allardyce continues and will continue to employ a brand of football that is archaic and quite removed from what is required in the EPL.

We are s**** and we know we are.......

Butt really shouldn't be starting for us, he's been consistently crap this season. He gives the ball away far too easily and just doesn't do enough.

We've just awarded him a new 1 year contract with the option of another year. Clearly looking to the future, there.

They weren't quite magnificent but Faye, Zoggy and Beye all played really well.

Well, he's still a decent squad player to be fair. I'd just prefer it if he was back-up.

Its a good idea, it gives your wingers more freedom to attack becasue it provides good defensive cover.

I'd actually like to see Sam stick with the formation. We werent shit leading upto the goal. We played really well upto then in my opinion. All changed after the lucky goal. Those forst 40 minutes were the best ive seen from the team all season.

Purely from the perspective of ownership of the club i would absolutely love it for them to give sam time and for him to turn it around. That kind of long term patience and backing of a manager to the fruition of success would be a welcome change from trigger happy freddy.

But unless results improve thats not going to happen, no one can continually back underachievement.

Get a passionate creative manager in and we will fly with the squad we have!!

No, you won't. Well, that's my opinion anyway, I thnk it is easy to overrate your squad when you're not assessing it objectively, but from what I've seen of you this season - which, admittedly isn't as much as you lot have - you've a lot of players who really aren't up to much.

Even Given seems (by reading posts here) to have deteriorated, and he's been quality for donkeys.
