SSN says that Redknapp is/was in London having a meal with family and friends, which could simply mean that we offered him the job today he has/is discussing it with then before coming back to Newcastle in the morning, and in the meantime we are trying to negotiate a compensation package with Pompey to speed up the process.

SSN (David Craig) also said that they expect the whole thing to be tied up with Harry and Portsmouth before they come up to play Sunderland, which hints at an announcement before or more likely after the man united game tomorrow.

But PLEASE PLEASE forget about Alan Shearer its not going to happen!

they also said he was in transfer talks with fred as well, can't be 2 places at once unless they know fuck all

one fact is that the chants for Shearer will be heard at old trafford tomorrow if we havent got a manager by then

Mort and Ashley aren't stupid and surely wont be swayed by the dream vision of Shearer when they know as well as many others in football that Shearer needs experience before taking on such a high pressure job

they may be stupid enough to appoint harry redknapp

what do people have against redknapp? if he is indeed the choice of Mike Ashley and Chris Mort then are these same people going to turn their backs on Newcastle?

Does Oliver really know anything?  If he knows about harry, why does he also speculate about Jose in today's chronicle?

backed up by the fact he wrote all about Mark Hughes last night.

He said on SSN that he thinks its 50/50 between Hughes and Redknapp.  He's covered his back by producing a back page on both.  Then he's added a light sprinkling of foreign manager speculation.  He's covered all angles, and, as much as I hate to say it, he's covered his back.

No  ... didn't think that Sam was the right signing at the time either. Having an opinion doesn't mean everyone has to agree with me or I'm packing in and going home.

That's kind of the point of the whole "giving support" thing.

I will never turn my back on newcastle

But Redknapp is not good enough

Football is about opinions to take an old cliche, but the man is one of the best at bringing in relatively unknown players and turning them into to premiership stars, look at Benjani and Muntari.

He is also known for getting the best out of older players such as Campbell and James, and we have a few of those, so if appointed give him a chance is all i'm saying

I'm now hearing that the meal is at Kemsley Manor and Chris Mort is there too.  Anyone able to verify whether Mort is in Newcastle or London??
