Six-pointer at the weekend like.

Debut for the new boy as well. Worst time to play them.

Thought they needed to appeal for a permit?

Appeal hearing is tomorrow. I'd be surprised if he doesn't play.

Boro and Sunderland beat 2 other teams below us, if anything them winning has kept us further away from the drop zone.

Exactly. And that's the reason we'll not go down. Win on Sunday which we should do and we're looking at a 9-10 point gap again most likely.

We need 2 wins from our home games, and they are far from guarenteed.

Boro

Sunderland

Fulham

Reading

surely 6 points

Really hope your right, but our last 4 home games have been Birmingham, Man C, Derby, Bolton, where we got 5pts.

And should only have got 2 points from those games tbh, last minute goals in the Derby and Brum games

We are currently hovering above the relegation zone, but in most seasons there is one team that will normally fall spectacularly after Christmas into the bottom three and the way that we are playing at the moment it could be us.

Just as we knew coming into January that we were basically going to pick up just about fuck all in the league, this weekend's match against the smogs really is vital for a win - not just for the three points but to stop the rot and get some sort of confidence into the team.

We walloped Stoke in the middle of all this remember?

A comfy victory over Boro and the attitudes will alter on here no doubt. There's Villa after that and we could pick up a point. The Man Utd game will be tough, but we'll kick on from there.

Threads like this are understandable given we've won something like 3 games in 18, but i don't think relegation is realistic.

Just to repeat what people have said; there are far worse teams below us. We've still got to play them and they've still got to play each other. We've got four of the shite ones all to play at home where we will pick up wins, we might even pick up a win on the road.

We're a bit rubbish this season but we'll still win plenty of games. It'll be an unglamorous finish but that doesn't really matter.

I'm not blind to the possibility of relegation but would people be this negative if we hadn't played Arsenal in the FA Cup? Remove that and it would be a disappointing draw (but not a defeat) against Bolton after Keegan had been at the club 2 days and a totally predictable loss away to Arsenal.

It's a shame Allardyce wasn't sacked before he wasted our relatively easy run of games.

Hopefully the home crowd won't be as suicidal as people on this board and will actually cheer the team on to hopefully getting the points we need to stay up.

Of course it's possible. It's technically still possible for Arsenal to get relegated as there's still 42 points up for grab for each side this season.

We're not going to go down. 42 more points we could still get with Blackburn, Boro, Sunderland, Fulham and Reading at SJP. We'll be fine.
