Seems like it's not that his cancer has now progressed to stage 4, but that he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. That's two very different things.

Honest question, how is it different? Is it better or worse? Apologies, just would be interested to hear.

Progression = caught earlier but not responded to treatment

Diagnosis of stage 4 = caught it very very late, and chances of survival (depending on type) low

The former would indicate he's not responding to treatment and is getting worse, and that his cancer has now spread to different organs.

The latter indicates that was the state at diagnosis. Still a grim diagnosis, but we're not being given an indication it's getting worse.

Neither is great, obviously. But when the former is presented as the latter, it's newspapers being sensationalist ghouls profiteering on a man's suffering just for clicks.

The headlines are suggesting he's on death's door.

He was fantastic last night, so sprightly, moving easily around the stage.

He's coming back to Whitley Bay in Feb

Just got vip tickets for the Whitley bay one. Looking forward to hearing from him again.

There's not a corner of the globe I wouldn't travel from to make sure I'd be there for any KK SJP return. My hero. Mr Newcastle United. The man who started it all for me...

There will never be another.

I love the guy too but Bobby Robson got me attached to the team.

Good luck King Kev 🤴

One of my good mates was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in February last year. Docs told him he probably had 6 months to live and he made it to Christmas, which was remarkable given how ill he was. He deteriorated very quickly after diagnosis, then had chemo that he responded brilliantly too and was almost his normal self for a few months. Eventually though the chemo stopped working and sadly he declined very quickly (over the space of a few days).

Obviously everyone is different but the 5 year survival rate is less than 5% for stage 4 stomach cancer

I haven’t read the article but stage 4 usually means its spread and terminal, however with life prolonging drugs these days people can lead a normal life, usually plenty of unpleasant side effects which can be challenging but hopefully his cancer can be stabilised and managed.

Long live King Kev.

Minhosa, you are absolutely spot on and your words are perfect. We're probably older than many, but after the utter dross of the 80's and early 90's, KK set the place alight both on the field and as manager. we were destined to amost disappear until he arrived, and nothing or nobody since (and I include SBR, PIF and Howe) can re-create the unbeleivable times he gave this club of ours.

The absolutely joyous football we played was beyond belief and gave me more joy and pleasure in his years here than anything (perhaps apart from the Fairs cup win?) has done before or since.

He is a true giant of a figure inn our history and an all time absolute legend.

I guess his diagnosis is not good, but my heeart goes out to him and his family and all I can say is the biggest 'Thank you for everything'

KK, you reign supreme.

I’ve been diagnosed with cancer twice in last two years. Bowel and kidney. Both caught early so no need for chemo etc.

surgery removed half my bowel and my right kidney.

stage four yes it’s spread beyond abdomen but chemo / radio hopefully giving him more time. He’s not said it’s terminal
