What a crappy team 1977

Dropping three of our best players (Owen, Beye, Faye) for Martins, Chimbonda and Hangeland is madness.

Riise for Enrique is like Roeder dropping N'Zogbia for Duff. Let's try and do the right thing for one times sake.

yeah, 1977's team is a pisstake I think,

Taylor, Given, Milner and Riise in the first team??? fuckin hell

Barbaric, isn't it.

Pascal Chimbonda - £4M

Brede Hangeland - £5M

John Arne Riise - £2.5M

Simon Rolfes - £7M

Mehdi Mahdavikia - £4M

Peter Crouch - £8M

While getting rid of Carr, Emre, Duff, Smith, Ramage and Rozehnal would be a good summer for Newcastle.

first team

--------------------- Martins ----- Crouch ----------------------

Milner --------------- Rolfes ----- Barton ------- Mahdevikia

Riise ---------- Hangeland ----- Taylor -------- Chimbonda

------------------------------ Given ------------------------------

back up

----------------------- Owen ----- Viduka ------------------------

N'Zogbia ------------- Faye ----- Geremi ------------- Lua Lua

Enrique ----------- Cacapa ----- Diatta ------------------ Beye

------------------------------ Harper -------------------------------

Krul, Edgar, Butt, Carroll ....

Your taking the piss.....right?

I thought that earlier when I saw his team but didn't wanna be an arsehole. His back up team is far better than his first team.

Owen to Man Utd for £7 million according to the News of the World.

cant see it.

firstly, he wouldnt get a game, and secondly, they'll be after a bigger striker like berbatov imo

Yeah, i thought someone might pull me up if i just said legend, cos he hasn't won owt since very early on, in spite of his amazing appearance record. He's a legend in my eyes.

what's Given done to merit being ahead of Harper next season? Nothing short of an absolute disgrace if that happens

IMO, if Shay get's over his fitness issues, no question, he should be #1. Otherwise, it makes sense for Harper to keep his spot, so long as he keeps performing...

Paper this morning talking about Chelsea cutting Anelka loose.

Hmmm ... if true we would stand a very good chance of getting him as I can't imagine too many others going for him.

top target definitely!

but if it will cost 15m because Chelsea just use him for half season ... better we look at another target...

£12m for Anelka would be perfect (maybe even only a couple of million net if someone is willing to pay over the odds for Smith and Stoke get promoted).

Would make utter sense for them to move him on. He was mainly purchased to cover for the ANC, as Shevchenko and Pizzaro have effectively flopped, whilst the alternative option with Drogba in the team was for him to play wide, where he hasnt done well enough to warrant being a first teamer next season.

He's played before under Keegan, a manager who he has openly admired, he's perfect for Viduka's role, and his maturity in not forcing a move away from Bolton should not be overlooked. Good footballer with some pace and intelligence, and although not a long term signing, could well be someone who shoots us back up the league into a position where we'd be better fit to sign good talent.

Is it a coincidence that our defence looks much more composed and more organised with a goalkeeper capable of communicating with his backline and generally dominating his box? I think not

Harper has to stay in the team, no question

harper should stay in on form.

however the "dominating his box" thing is one of those phrases people trot out that doesn't actually mean anything when you watch what actually happens.
