GM
Sad indictment of Martins, really. Only this morning Shearer had been quoted on Sky Sports website saying how crucial Oba's unpredictability on the field could be key to our salvation. Bitterly ironic that his off pitch antics should be a nail in our coffin.
Montey
Commentator has just said it is a groin injury. He was probably too busy getting drunk and tossing off to Internet porn last night. Should stick him in the reserves to rot for a few weeks.

Kaizero
It's amazing how the "But Oba is a canny lad, Oba is awesome." now suddely are all "Fuck off Oba, you were too bad for this league anyways". Bunch of hypocrites.
Guest Heneage
If he has and that's a big If, why? He knows we are deep in the ditch and now he decides he doesn't want to play.

I dunno, I don't though, he just texted me and said. Probably heard it from there then.

johnnypd
deja vu with the Bellamy situation, new boss comes in, stamps down on discipline, says the past-it star striker is an automatic starter, concocts weird formation to accomodate him, pacy striker with dodgy off-field record throws a hissy fit. next installment sees a public falling out between said striker and manager. johnnypd
we need the pace in there. we cant afford to have a situation like this, there's no time for games from oba, or even posturing discipline from the coaching team - it is all about pragmatism for the remaining 6 fixtures. he should get him in, tell him its forgotten about, and next game he starts up front with carroll. then at the end of the season you send him packing. however i suspect it may be too late and that there was a confrontation this morning after martins said he was feeling the groin. Everything from Shearer about Martins has been positive, indicating he rates him highly. I think it's a bit different in that respect - alot more unjustified if he feigned injury. The situation with Bellamy - he was played LW under Souness in the season he was our top goal scorer and he knew the club wanted to sell him (Yakubu) and felt he wasnt being treated right. Also he was still top goalscorer come the end of the season too.
oldtype
I'm still failing to find a motive. He's just stupid, has no footballing brain and doesn't understand why he won't get to play. Could be any number of things. Could have been pissed off by Shearer's clubbing ban. Could have been pissed off by Shearer saying Owen would start every week. Could be that he just feels that we're going down and thinks he can get a big money move in the summer by staying away from injury. Most likely some combination of 1, 2, and 3. Jayson
He better be fcking injured. He could have relegated us today. Al isnt experienced enough to know how to change things in 4 hours. Prob been planning for a 3 pronged attack all week. Shola starting though was a clear mistake. Carroll stepped up, shola stepped down.

I don't agree with the action he took, but I can see his point. Tell me what Owen offered today, at least Oba has pace that could have troubled them in behind. I used to be a fan of Owen as he was very sharp and a lethal striker, but today it was Owen not Ranger who's lack of physical presence I worried about, he was bossed around like he was 12. tmonkey
If he has feigned injury, it's time to cash in in the summer and get a replacement. Will be easily replaced with a bit of money. If we stay up and all of Martins, Owen and Viduka leave, I honestly would look at it as an opportunity to replace faulty/unreliable goods and move on to potentially better, more useful, more reliable, newer models that aren't as well known right now because they're new on the block. He won a header against Faye at the start to be fair to him, its not like he wasnt trying. Once again, it seems like making excuses. But it is what it is. They play long balls, owen wont touch it. This has been obvious forever.
