Middlesbrough Football Club are to up their interest in James Milner.

The former England Under-21 international has been made available by Newcastle United according to reports, with the Magpies looking for around £7million for his signature.

 

Aston Villa have been heavily linked with the midfielder as have Rafael Benitez’s Liverpool, but it is believed that Gareth Southgate will make an offer for the player within the week.

 

With Stewart Downing on the left wing and Milner on the right, Brazilian international striker Afonso Alves will be licking his lips at the thought of ammunition he may be fed next season!

Middlesbrough Football Club are to up their interest in James Milner.

The former England Under-21 international has been made available by Newcastle United according to reports, with the Magpies looking for around £7million for his signature.

Milner is no good as a winger - he's not quick enough, he's not skillful enough and his crossing ability isn't good enough.

However (and i realise i've said this a few times before) I think he could be an excellent attacking central midfielder - he's got a decent shot on him, he never stops running and he can use both feet. I think he has the potential to be awesome in a central role and i'd be pissed off if we sold him to another club for £7m before we tried it out.

I think Scolari will be the one to win the Champions League with Chelsea. What he needs to do though is sell Malouda, Drogba and Sheva. Get Robinho, Ribery and someother striker. I think he can have a great success with this team.

Maybe if Ronaldo goes. I've heard whispers that the dippers are desperate for cash - The Alonso deal is only getting them £4m upfront.

 

They need £20m to put down for the stadium in September and more in the winter to pay back a chunk of the Torres fee. Neithe rowner is willing to put any cash in at present.

 

I've also heard a whisper that Fergie is tempted to try and get Torres if Ron leaves - £40m being mentioned.

FWIW, though, I reckon it'll end up being 15 plus a player, which will probably be Finnan as the others would be value too highly (although Benitez valued Crouch at 15 and Barry at 10, so Finnan is probably worth 25m).

Very true. I think it also has to be taken into account that he is your captain as well, I definitely think this should mean an extra few million should be paid. You not only have to replace a good player, but also your leader.

 

I know an excellent replacement for you guys, as he has prem experience and is British too and so is well accustomed to the league. He is currently incarcerated and might be for a little while longer but please don't let that put you off ...

Kudos to O'Neill, Lerner and Villa. The big clubs need to know they can't bully teams/players around like they seem to think they can. The spanish waiter would be the first one to complain if it was say Barca acting like this to Torres. Liverpool have acted disgustingly in this whole affair, sting them for as much as possible. Think you should definitely be looking to get Finnan as part of the deal though even if his best days are behind him he is still a useful player and you definitely need a RB.
