Our Target Man Next Season?

Recommended Posts

Why not go for a cheaky bid on Shevchenko.. it is a bit of a gamble, but I still rate him.

Hope to god we dont sign Crouch, then I rather have us signing Kuyt.

i do not believe i'm gonna post this and this may well go all round europe but out of those 3 i'd take crouch.

We should be looking for someone who's mobile enough to cover the right hand side when needed (like Martins does on occasions down the left) but also decent in the air in case we have to swap formations throughout the game, I like the look of Gomis from what little I've seen of him, if Keegan wants a ready made Premiership player then he should look at Kenwyne Jones (can't see Quinn selling to us) or Darren Bent.

I would take Luis Fabiano. Good all round target man, and would get us 10-15 goals as a minimum.

Roque Santa Cruz would be good.

Ashton is considerably better than Viduka, but has an injury record that is probably worse. Bit of a Big Dunc, will never have a good run in any side by the looks of things.

Crouch would be a good last resort in terms of actually improving the first team. He's a good mid table Premiership forward, but not much more than that.

I reckon a bid for Santa Cruz would be well worthwhile. Even though they got him on the cheap last summer a bid of 4/5 mill would be worth it for a player like him.

Ive always rated ashton but i wouldnt take a gamble on him as he hasnt been the same player since his injury, and weve yaken players on before in that state(Duff, Smith)

Probs the best bet would be to look for a youngster and blood them in as Viduka's understudy.

Crouch is a no no as i feel he is a bit more of a behind the frontman player and is rubbish in the air. Might aswell keep Ameobi if we go for him.

Not Viduka !

Santa Cruz would be perfect if he could be prized away from Blackburn

No chance of that unless the offer was crazy.

I'd stick in a bid for Zigic.  I bet you could  get him for  4M.  we would need a quality set piece specialist to go with him though.

Haven't seen Darren Bent play in a while thanks to Tottenham, and I can't quite recall how good he is at holding the ball up and bringing others into play. I do like him as a player though, but I'm just not quite sure if he can provide what Viduka does.

Santa Cruz and Kenwyne Jones would be perfect but I think they would be very difficult to get.

Guest kleinhero

Pavel Pogrebnyak from Zenith would be the perfect choice if he is available for us.

Darren Bent or Cruz would be good signings IMO. I still hesitate about Crouch because for someone who's 7ft tall he still looks weak and I'm not sure he's fantastic in the air either.

Viduka is out for upto six months.

A target man should now be our number one transfer priority in my opinion

Definately.  Even if this hadn't happened we still needed one anyway as Smith is not a target man or forward he's a holding midfielder who can't play in midfield so just breaks up our own play in the final 3rd.

Edit:  My point about smith was on the basis Viduka won't play 20 games in a good year.
