Benfica and Zaragoza had been locked in negotiations for several weeks and it appeared as though the latter's last-minute demands had made the deal fall through. However, Benfica's Sporting Director, Rui Costa, travelled to the Spanish city on Tuesday to proceed with talks and finalize the deal for Quique Flores' main summer target. It is reported that Aimar has signed a three-year contract and will cost Benfica a fee of €7,5 million. Although he travelled with the rest of the Zaragoza squad to their pre-season training camp, Aimar was given the green light to move to Benfica this afternoon and is expected in Lisbon tomorrow to be presented to the press. The former Valencia man did not hide his joy for signing for Benfica, saying: "Fortunately, I have always been able to choose where to play in my career.
