despite the sub standard (of what they are capable on their day) Euro of most of the Swiss guy's he was quite allright. what makes him better than for example the ManCity Gelson Fernandes (his CM partner for the Swiss NT) is, that he has some good "shooting" boots and not only wins balls, but is able to deliver them nicely to the wingers/strikers or have a go himself.

Sunday Sun: "But the Magpies look set to miss out on midfield target Gokhan Inler, who we have been told is ready to stay with Udinese."

the sunday sun is worse than all the tabloids put together tbh

Im sure if he did say he was staying at least one national paper would have picked up on it. They would make a headline another player turns toon down

From what I saw they were just some more comments from his agent, in the Swiss press. Something along the lines of 'I've already turned down the English offer.' IIRC. Not seen a link though.

Newcastle are closing in on a major deal for Udinese's Swiss midfielder Gokham Inler after reaching the £5million 'buy-out' clause in his contract.

Manager Kevin Keegan is willing to pay that fee for the gifted attacking star (above) who can quit the Serie A side after just one season if he wants because of the fixed fee in his deal with the Italian outfit.

Udinese are stunned that the Toon are prepared to go to those lengths and are now hurriedly trying to talk Inler into staying with the offer of a new and improved contract.

However Inler fancies the Premier League and is ready to activate the clause as long as personal terms can be agreed with the Geordies.

Talks are at an advanced stage and a decision is due in the next few days.
