Llambias: sale stories are all utter nonsense

Dunno why you guys love defending this guy. It's obvious he wants to sell. He's been linked with selling NUFC since day one. Can't see us doing better than 12 or 11th this season with all this going on.

are you the first person who actually thinks there may be truth in this ?

Fancy that eh, does us all a favour by wiping out a stadium debt, then has the temerity to include it in the asking price, and more.

Took your time.

Don't think the club debt is at all relevant here, he bought the club and ultimately the debt was a £100m reduction in his own assets. So thus the club cost Ashley £230m regardless of whether the debt was paid off, so now that he has paid it off, he is perfectly entitled to include it in the asking price.

don't think you quite see my point James.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he sells up. No smoke without fire, as for the lack of quotes, quotes aren't Ashleys style. He's a poor communicator in fact.

I trust Keegan's personal judgement of Ashley's intentions to be honest. Keegan would be manager if he perceived Ashley as having a short term objective.

Me neither.

He's a businessman after all and would sell up if the right offer came along just like Shepherd and the Halls did. As would the Glazers, Gillett and Hicks, Shinawatra or anybody else who was offered a massive return on their investment (bar maybe Abramovich).

The fact that he has named such a price, suggests to me that he doesn't want to sell up.

It wouldn't surprise me if he did sell. He has no particular affiliations with us and he is, first and foremost, a business man. I'd prefer that he opened the cheque book but he appears to be the ebenezer scrooge of the billionaire club.

Still hope I'm totally proved wrong by the end of August, though.

Facefuckingpalm.

How does he appear to be the "ebenezer scrooge of the billionaire club"? By putting in club record bids for players?

I'm lost for words really. The impatience of people like you is incredible.

How much do you think your pal Shepherd made out out of Newcastle compared to his initial outlay?

It will be a hell of a lot more (percentage wise), than Ashley will ever make.

It just doesn't make sense, why a man would buy the club, wipe out the debt then sell up. Surely if you wanted out, you'd sell the club and the debt?

Trust NE5 to believe every negative assumption in the "cockney-based" media.

If your on about the OP the article in The Sun was written by a "Geordie-based" journo.

I agree that "cockney-based media" is an inaccurate and laughable expression. That's why I put it in quotation marks.

Right, here is my totally madeup story explaining why Ashley bought the club, and why he is going to be here for a long time:

Mike Ashley and Paul Kemsley are at one of those posh casinos. Ashley has made thousands of pounds betting on the number 17, while Kemsley has lost a hell of a lot.

Ashley: "More chance of Spurs winning the league than you winning anything tonight mate."

Kemsley: "Well the chance of winning the league is impossible, so I think I'm better off staying on the table."

Ashley: "Why is it impossible?"

Kemsley: "Top four, keeping everyone else out etc"

Ashley: "It's not impossible, its just that spurs are shit"

Kemsley: "You wouldn't do any better. I bet 100 quid that you couldn't win the league with any non-top-4 team.

Ashley: "Ok, then"

The two shake hands, and Kemsley looks on slightly nervously as Ashley bids farewell and trudges away through the smoky room.

Ashley had to pay a 45 million of the debt off, as it was linked to Fred being at the club & when Fred left it had to be paid within 60. The rest was paid off to save negative interest being paid on it.

£30+ million to split with his bro, a years salary of approx £600K & dose of pneumonia and a collapsed lung iirc.

This story is laughable. There was a smoking ban in casinos when Ashley bought United so Kemsley would have a perfect view of him walking off.

Joker.

Dunno why you guys love defending this guy. It's obvious he wants to sell. He's been linked with selling NUFC since day one. Can't see us doing better than 12 or 11th this season with all this going on.

are you the first person who actually thinks there may be truth in this ?
