Thespence
“Things have gone on and hopefully after the Chelsea game I will be better (sic) in the picture. The club is almost sold so I don’t know what future I have. “If you listen to (Keith) Harris he says there is interest from two parties and he doesn’t expect it to go on longer than another couple of weeks.” JK talking s**** again? I'm not sure if he knows anything more than we do tbh. Why would he actually go out there to lie on purpose? Because the people paying his wages tell him to. After the trash talking Sunday tabloid jounro Robbie Beasley, JFK has been Ashleys next best PR man.

Baggio
A GEORDIE businessman is not on the brink of ploughing cash into Newcastle United and coaxing Alan Shearer into management. That is the word from Gibraltar, where insurance tycoon and lifelong Magpies fan Alan Beenshill is based. The 43-year-old, already a major sponsor of Newcastle United, is said to be mystified at reports he is set to invest in the club and install himself as chairman. It was rumoured at the weekend Mr Beenshill, who is chief executive of the Collingwood Insurance Company, was lining up a deal that would see him gain a stake in United, with Mike Ashley remaining at St James’s Park. Reports also claimed he had close ties with Shearer and was confident he could persuade the former skipper to become the Magpies’ new boss. But a spokesman for the businessman today told the Chronicle: “He has no comment to make about this. If he wants to do something to help the club, like he has in the past, he will be happy to talk about it. This story has not come from him.” Mr Beenshill, through his companies, has been a sponsor of the club for more than 10 years, reportedly spending around £1m a year. The website for Collingwood Insurance Services, linked to his Gibraltar business, includes a testimonial from Newcastle United director of commercial affairs Darren Venn. When Alan Shearer broke Jackie Milburn’s goalscoring record, he was rewarded with free car insurance for life by Mr Bennshill. In 2005, he also backed bids for the region to mark the 200th anniversary of Lord Collingwood’s victory in the Battle of Trafalgar. Mr Beenshill’s children have also been mascots on several occasions, which led to them being nicknamed Lucky Geordie Lads by Shearer. The games included a 6-1 FA Cup thumping of Tottenham Hotspur. Keith Harris, head of London-based Seymour Pierce, has been charged with the task of selling the club by Ashley. Last week he said any prospective buyer would look to do a deal by the end of the year. But he added that if a buyer wasn’t found before then, there may be no takeover until way into 2009. The Chronicle also understands two American consortia rumoured to be front-runners in the race to buy out the Magpies are struggling to raise the necessary funds. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/11/18/tycoon-denies-newcastle-united-cash-rumours-72703-22282785/

Karjala
heard from a well respected ex-toon player (who's parents in law live next to my cousin) that Ashley wont be selling any time soon. Personally i think this is just as much an uninformed rumour as any other, but thought i may as well share it.
