Guest Darth Toon
Has everyone forgotten there's a match tomorrow?? Absolute must win this, with 2 tricky away games to follow. Is Taylor back? Will Owen start? I reckon: Given Beye - Taylor (or Bassong) - Coloccini - Enrique Jonas - Butt - Barton - Duff Ameobi - Owen Harsh on Oba, but can't see JFK leaving Owen out again.... Guest nufc_kev
Beardsley said at a talk in last night that he'd been told Taylor will miss tomorrows game, unsure as to whether he's right or not. I'd go: Given Beye Coloccini Taylor/Bassong Enrique Guthrie Barton Jonas Owen Ameobi Martins I reckon JFK will go: Given Beye Coloccini Taylor/Cacapa Enrique Jonas Butt Barton Duff Ameobi Owen

Decky
Simply a must win, i predict: 0-0 at half time, pretty boring stuff We come out fighting in the 2nd half, for the first 15 minutes Things die down, subs are needed, nothing from Kinnear 75th minute, its 0-0, Wigan are building pressure, we take a defender off for another defender Ends 0-
Dave
We'll shit 'em. 2-0.

johnnypd
FFS Play Bassong instead of Cacapa this time. If Cacapa shat his pants against Johnson and Zamora, imagine him up against Zaki and Heskey. Martins Ameobi Owen Jonas Geremi Barton Enrique Bassong Coloccini Beye Given plz
Rich
Heskey's only 50/50, mind. Hope he doesn't play.
Nobody
Scoring the first goal will be massive, Wigan hasn't won after conceding the first goal in 50 games. Mind, we have a good record of breaking bad streaks
LoveItIfWeBeatU
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/11/14/sebastien-bassong-pushing-for-first-team-return-72703-22257794/ Sebastien Bassong pushing for first-team return Nov 14 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle JOE KINNEAR is ready to give Sebastien Bassong his first Premier League start in his favoured central defensive position in tomorrow’s crucial home game with Wigan. That is if, as expected, Steven Taylor has not made a complete recovery from the groin injury which saw the England Under-21 skipper miss last Sunday’s defeat by Fulham at Craven Cottage. But Kinnear is unlikely to promote his skipper Michael Owen from the substitutes bench, even though the striker is now fit again after his groin problems. Both Kinnear and the player were pessimistic about Taylor’s chances of returning to the team tomorrow. Instead, Taylor who has already pulled out of the England Under-21 friendly with the Czech Republic at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night, is eyeing the game at Chelsea a week tomorrow. Kinnear was criticised for playing Claudio Cacapa instead of Bassong at Craven Cottage, but I understand it was a joint decision by the senior coaching staff. Indeed, there was no pointing of the finger by Kinnear at Cacapa today because the interim boss knows that, despite his disastrous showing at Craven Cottage, he might need the former Lyon man again at some point. And when I asked Kinnear what he would do if Taylor failed his fitness least today, he replied: “Bassong will play. It’s as simple as that.” And it looks as though Kinnear has made the decision as to which two strikers out of Owen, Obafemi Martins and Shola Ameobi will start against Steve Bruce’s side tomorrow. The United boss added: “It will be Ameobi and Martins. Why shouldn’t it be? They have both scored goals and worked their socks off in our past few games. “But Michael Owen will be involved at some stage tomorrow.” I wonder if Owen – he scored a late winner in the corresponding match last season – would have been back in United’s starting line-up had he knocked in that late easy chance at Fulham – the sort of chance he normally buries with his eyes closed. As a result the 28-year-old striker still has to reach 50 starts for United since arriving on Tyneside in the summer of 2005.

thewellander
I'd like to see: Given Beye Coloccini Bassong Beye Jonas Guthrie Barton Zogs Owen Martins I see that as the most attacking side we could put forward at home against a team we (ahem) should beat. It would be nice to see Zogs get a chance this season, and I think it was harsh to drop Guthrie for Butt.
Legacy
Have to win this one, I was soo disappointed with the fulham game after we had worked our way back into the game. 2-0 to us

Guest Stephen927
We need a win. If we lose or draw, with Chelsea next, that could see us in the bottom three until the end of November. Not a good situation to be in at all.

STM
Kinnear has shown that he does make alot of decent simple choices, which alot of others have failed to do. To bring Bassong into the team would be the correct thing to do. Given Beye Coloccini Bassong Enrique Butt Barton Jonas Duff Martins Ameobi 3-
Yorkie
It'll be... Given Beye Coloccini Bassong Enrique Jonas Barton Butt Duff Ameobi Martins So, basically his ideal first eleven, apart from Taylor. I don't have too many gripes really. I'd probs rather have Guthrie and N'Zogbia in ideally, but continuity is important and we've looked very good at home with this team. We were good enough to beat Fulham aswell, it's pretty obvious that it was simply two individual errors that lost us the game. The team was fine if unspectacular. I'm fairly confident, 2-1 i say. Owen to score from the bench.
