merlin
I understand that people are concerned, but have they really went and sold our best players in the past? Can't think of a situation when they've sold someone that didn't want to leave, that's then went on to cripple the team. ALL previous boards have sold our best players - even KK under SJH sold Andy Cole, admittedly so he could sign Ferdinand later but Man U wanted Cole amd away he went. We did OK after he went, but we finished lower than in the previous season. Then you have Gazza, Beardsley, Waddle, Supermac, Pop Robson etc etc...some of these players wanted to go, but only because they couldn't see the club winning honours - has that changed now ? If the right offer comes in, Carroll will be off although I would still be surprised if it was before the summer. cole left midseason. I am well aware of that - are you saying that because he went in Jan 95 it didn't affect out final placing in May ? Otherwise, i don't see the point you are making. The issue under discussion was whether NUFC have sold their best players or not and the answer to that has been, apart from a few years in the mid 90s, an unequivocal YES ; even Fergie mentioned it in his book when he talked about the Cole transfer - his words were that 'Newcastle have never been able to keep their best players'. It riled me at the time, but he was right and has been ever since.
Dave
What's actually going on with Carroll? Late fitness test? Out for six games according to the Sunday rags.
Ronaldo
I know, but i've read that he's with the squad and will face a late fitness test.
Guest sicko2ndbest
The fact that Andy has been at the specialists for 3 days now suggests to me it is serious. I think he will be out for 2/3 matches
Dave
I know, but i've read that he's with the squad and will face a late fitness test. Where was that? Though we desperately need him in the side, I've mentioned before my worry that his pride makes any injury worse.

junkhead
Wishful thinking IMO. For today probably.. but no doubt good news that he won't be out for a month or so
Neil
My guess is he's being shoved in a late injury for shits and giggles, but at least is a sign he may well not be out for a month as has been speculated. Or, he might be dead. Who knows?
Guest Geordiesned
I didn't hear it myself but apparently Pardew has just said on 5 Live that Carroll will be out less than a month but couldn't be more precise than that.

Dave
Going to miss West Ham and Stevenage, then 'he may be available' according to Pardew. Doesn't sound great, he basically doesn't know how serious the problem is.
ElDiablo
We can get through those two without him, we may have a new guy in to help things. Really need him for Sunderland though, would be a huge miss.
