Ronaldo
His form hasn't been awful. Even without his strong contribution for England last month.

Guest firetotheworks
I still believe in the promise he showed for us tbh. It's easy to get a bit short sighted in football. I think with Andy Carroll it's all about whether you're short sighted enough to think that he's the next best thing based on his form for us, or whether you're short sighted enough to think that he's not god enough based on his form for Liverpool. toon25
I'm going to back West Ham to be the next team to go into administration. Would love to know how they can afford this kind of sum. Didn't think the porn merchants were particularly flush.
RodneyCisse
Id cry if we were paying anything close to that for Carroll, would we get a percentage of that?

I think his patchy form last season had as much to do with Dalglish's failings as a manager as much as Carroll himself.

Slim
So can he not just demmand 200k perk week so there only option is to sell to us
wacko
He doesn't have to demand anything, he can just say "no". A club can't sell a player if he doesn't want to leave. If none of the offers interest him, Carroll can just stay at LFC counting the cash till his contract is up, provided he behaves professionally, like Winston Bogarde did at Chelsea. Tiresias
I give Carroll more credit than to just want to sit on the bench. He may be dumb but I do think he wants to play.

Wisdom Body
Can't, won't and shouldn't pay anywhere near what Liverpool want or what West Ham have supposedly offered for a player who wouldn't be certain of a spot in the starting 11, particularly when there are still more urgent squad holes to fill. Remains to be seen just how concrete this West Ham interest is; even if it is the usual transfer fiction, it's been cast well, since if there's a club I see making such a bid it's definitely the pornographers and the pachyderm. relámpago blanco
I don't think comparing signing Carroll to Cabaye or Ba or Cisse in terms of value is worthwhile. There is a link in terms of talent and track record representing price, but really its about what you can afford to pay for a player that will improve your squad and if you can get an equivalent improvement in the squad but spending on an another player. He's worth more to West Ham as they would find it difficult to attract a player that will be as effective due to being recently promoted (and shit) and they figure they could get him due to Nolan and Carrolls affair and also Allardyce must have had some interactions with him. Guest BooBoo
I dont blame any one party for the Carroll deal. At the time I was sore with AC as I saw it him deserting us but times a healer and I've read so many different takes, it's probably most likely that everyone was keen on the deal rather than any one party pursuing it against another party's will: Liverpool were desperate buyers. We simply couldn't turn the mega offer down. Once Carroll knew we were keen sellers he chased the big wages. That's football unfortunately.
Sifu
West Ham will get him imo. Carroll may want to come back here but if the offer's good enough from West Ham, he's off there. If Carroll's worried about settling in, he'll have his mate Nolan to help him get through the good times and bad. Carroll didn't really have much support at Liverpool (unsurprising when you're working with cunts like Carragher, Gerrard, Suarez, Dalglish, etc.) but I really do think Nolan being at West Ham could sway Carroll's decision. Sure, his home is here but he has alienated a lot of the locals so he's going to have to do a lot of work to do if he wants to get himself back in people's good books (mine included, still don't want him back). midds
I'm not totally against getting him back up here, he was, and still can be, a really good striker and he's unplayable on his day. He's a big strong lad who ruffles feathers and makes things happen around him. My concern is that the £15m (or whatever) we spend to get him would be better spent elsewhere. For us it's still a massive amount of money and i think we'd get better value for money if we looked elsewhere. If it happens then fair enough, if it doesn't then we move on.
