He hasn't impressed whenever I've seen him. In the big matches David Luiz is getting the nod over him at CM. And they've just bought someone to play in his position.

It helps when a club can actively seek someone from around the world to replace their 35 year old midfielder. Roy Hodgson unfortunately only has a selected pool of players to choose from in which Lampard is still high on the list, and rightly so as even at 35, he's still better than the majority.

He still provides a goal threat even at 35. Im not a fan of his but at least he offers the team something. Barry offers minimal and even at his peak offered little more.

similar number of goals scored in the league excluding penalties.

But if we are going to pretend Barry offers next we have a long way to go.

Sorry. I cannot read your shite any more. I vowed I would never use the ignore function so im off to gouge out my eyes with a rusty gardening implement just to ensure I never read any of your posts ever again even by accident.

I don't know where this argument stemmed from and what it's all about and really don't want to bother either.

But if this seasons form is any indication, i'd take Barry to the WC. He's probably the best player we have as far as being an intelligent sitter in front of the back 4 and distributing along with Carrick.

I don't think i'd start him but i'd take him on the plane.

Haven't seen too much of Walker under Sherwood, has he improved ?

GJohnson is having his worst season in years, and in my opinion doesn't even deserve the make the 23 men squad. Would be nice if Clyne gets a chance vs. Denmark in March. Having said that, if not Walker, someone like Smalling/Jones will probably start at RB in place of a natural right back.

If you take Barry, you don't take Carrick, but for me i'd have Carrick all day along ahead of Barry. Not that i rate either of them but you've got to have one because we simply have nobody else for that position. Don't say the point in wasting two places on them both, would very negative and short sighted.

crazy to take any of these fuckers like barry and lampard - our goose is cooked, we all know it, there's not a snowballs chance in hell we can win it, absolutely everyone knows this so why take has beens?

fill the squad full of the most promising kids and go and fucking enjoy it, hope they mature well for the next euros

That's the problem, we haven't got many promising kids...

Take all the kids for experience not going to get out the group anyway.

At the same time, it could be soul destroying if they're thumped by Uruguay & Italy.

I think we actually have a decent batch coming through

I just don't feel it with the current crop. Wilshere would be the only one who comes close for me but he seems a bit of a crock.

Maybe it's a good thing.

Taking the best 23 would probably make the most sense, like.

Barkley. Sturridge is still young, Henderson looks promising. Shaw/Gibbs, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Stirling has been in decent form this season after his initial burst onto the scene died down

Yep. The best way the young kids will come along is taking the youth & Under 21 tournaments more seriously, not like last summer's disgrace. Not just throwing them in like that.

hm, i can see the logic of sending them to learn from a group who have proven themselves to be serial failures on the international scene even when in their prime like aye

  • 2 weeks later...

Just seeing how good Terry was tonight, it's an absolute joke that we're going to the WC without our best CB by a million miles because of Anton fucking Ferdinand.

Him and Cahill have been superb this season. It should be the WC starting CB pairing.
