Parsley
Sturridge could've had 2, maybe 3 today had his touch been better. The difference between England and Italy/Uruguay hasn't been so much in terms of general play, but in the quality of finishing. Whereas the likes of Sturridge and Rooney spurned at least 2 good chances per game, the likes of Suarez and Balotelli only needed a single sniff. I'm a huge fan of Sturridge's fwiw and I'd argue that he's England's best player, but he's wasteful at this level.
jollof rice and pea
What a pile of w*** that entire tournament was. Literally the only positives were that Sturridge looked a good player and nobody did anything stupid off the pitch. An utter embarrassment once again. It's a transition time for you. It always felt like a halfway team from the moment the squad was announced. No Cole, Defoe, Carrick, or Barry, but Gerrard made the focal point of the midfield. On the plus side, the younger players acquitted themselves very well, Sturridge, Sterling, Barkley especially. All three should be starters in 2018. If they continue their development, Stones and Shaw will replace Jagielka and Baines, respectively, and you also have the likes of Ox, Walcott, Rodriguez, and Redmond to play bigger roles four years from now. This group of young players are unlikely to be near as good as the great players England have had in the past ten twelve years,
Ronaldo
The good thing is, if we come up with a RB and a CB we should go into the Euros with a strong starting Xl. Need a different manager and system to maximise it, though.

Darth Crooks
This st George's park is just a gimmick, albeit impressive, that allows the elite to access state of the art facilities that your average kid in the street has no chance of seeing; whilst his playing fields get sold off for houses, his school sports funding is cut and the only time the fa contact those at grass roots is to put their hand out for joe soap to cough up a fee. All to be syphoned straight back to the top. It's the elephant in the room they don't want to challenge.
chicago_shearer
Greece v. Costa Rica in a World Cup round of 16 match doesn't suggest you need Clairefontaine style youth facilities and elite coaches at all levels of the game in order to be successful in tournaments. It's a long term problem, but it's not the reason England don't turn up. Countries do more with much, much less.
Guest TruToon94
Phil Neville is naff talking some shite at the moment. We need Gerrard to stick around. He lost us the match FFS. Lost the title for Liverpool and knocked us out in the WC. Needs to piss off, not stick around.

KaKa
Phil Neville is a big danger to the future of the England team. Talks so much shit in the most matter of fact way too! Scary that anyone related to him is involved with the team.

nufc4eva
Hodgson's squad selection was pretty poor, he tried to be positive but clearly doesn't have it in him to pick a team to really for another team's throat, and our play was overall way too timid. Most damningly imo Hodgson clearly cannot influence a game from the bench, his subs never made a difference and rather than going for goals when we needed it he normally reinforced the midfield in a safetly first manner. No excuse about the group considering Costa Rica won it, the players were too relaxed and not focused enough. The talk of him wanting Gerrard to carry on worries me, time to shake things up and make players work for their place in the squad. Hodgson has failed to inspire them and formation/tactics were awful. Need a different approach, we need a defensive midfielder, there must be someone across the league that can do that job for the team while allowing maybe Henderson and Barkley to attack in front. Need a different manager and system to maximise it, though. I agree with all of this. Not Jones or Smalling either. John Stones looks good and maybe Steven Caulker can get a decent move and flourish again. Clyne looks the most likely right back.
Mr. Snrub
No offence, but you lot are fucking horrific. Dodgy keeper, full backs who can't do it at this level, John Terry's understudy combined with Phil Jagielka in defence. A midfield of either past it jokers or kids who can't live up to PL form in the big stage and a fat, overrated striker who just can't be arsed. The rest of the world see England as a joke of a team and rightly so. You're shit, and you know you are.

Neil
Think Stones really looks the part at CB. With Distin and Jagielka no strangers to injuries, he should get plenty of game time next season, and that's if he doesn't become first choice regardless. 2 more years experience at his current trajectory and he'd be well worth playing. Mr. Snrub
Rather be shit and admit it than keep relying on over rated failures for the last decade. Wilshere and Lallana just got bossed by Costa Rica. As for Rooney, Glen Johnson saved him from being a complete flop at International level since 2004. By setting him up for an open goal from 2 yards out, in a match you still lost. Stifler
Is there any "Academy of Excellence" out there? Isn't that what was being built in London or something? If you're a kid of any talent, you need to be going through those Academies and dare I say being loaned out abroad or sent out abroad to be developed into professional players if the EPL wants to continue its current trend. (Will defer to any body and all who actually knows the current state or knows the above is not smart or doesn't make sense) It's in Burton. It's not enough. As I said the other day 1 training centre isn't enough, it's just going to be full of players who are only there because they know someone who can get them in, very few will get in on merit. We need to do what France did, have a training centre in each and every region, not only that but have better facilities for training coaches, managers, and referee's. Relying on 1 centre and the top clubs to train and coach players isn't going to work because 1 centre isn't enough to bring how many youngsters we need through, and the clubs in the Premier League and some in the Championship are happy to just buy new players from abroad instead of giving the youngsters a chance and even when they do give the youngsters a chance a lot of them are bought at an early age from another country. Krul is an example for us. Before 1998 France invested in regional centre's, the went on to win the World Cup in 1998 and since then have mostly been competitive in the major tournaments and are producing some of the best players in the world right now. Countries like Brazil and Spain have young players training on 5 a side pitches and have beach football pitches around the country. We have 5 a side but it's mostly by private companies where it's expensive to go to unless your with a group and the majority of the users are those who are in their 30's and above. As for beach football, I'd be surpassed if there was an actually pitch for it in the UK. This is an indication that football isn't as accessible as it can be, at least not on level where players and youngsters can play a game where ball control is important. If the FA want to win a major tournament again then they are going to have to invest in facilities for youngsters nationally with many different facilities, instead of sitting on their assess and letting the money roll in. Their last campaign with Mars was pretty much just all about putting a few new goal posts up or giving a few goals posts a lick of paint, very few facilities actually got all this new safe and secure changing facilities investment, and if they did it was usually reserved for facilities that are not fee to use. It was just never enough.
