Ashley wants speedy clear-out at Newcastle

Newcastle United have received a number of inquiries relating to the availability of their first-team squad members in the 48 hours since it emerged that every player would have his price this summer.

On Tuesday The Times revealed that offers would be considered for the entire playing staff as Mike Ashley, the owner, continues in his attempt to overhaul the relegated side before a £100 million sale.

However, Newcastle officials have distributed a definitive list of individuals they would prefer to move on at the earliest opportunity, in the hope that a core of the club’s best players can be retained for the Coca-Cola Championship campaign.

Managers at home and abroad have been told that a number of Newcastle players with considerable first-team experience are available for transfer with immediate effect. The sale of Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, Jonás Gutiérrez, Gérémi, José Enrique, Fabricio Coloccini, Obafemi Martins, Shola Ameobi and Xisco is seen as a priority.

It is hoped that Newcastle can generate enough income to prevent the sale of prize assets including Sébastien Bassong and Habib Beye this summer. Nevertheless, Ashley and his advisers accept that they are in no position to turn down any reasonable offer for any player.

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Bassong while Newcastle expect approaches for Beye and Steven Taylor before the defenders report back for pre-season training on July 1. Yet all three are rated highly by the club and there will be no move to encourage any of the trio to leave St James’ Park — in contrast to those listed.

It is understood that First Artists, the agency, is already talking to clubs on behalf of Newcastle, with a view to finding buyers for Coloccini and Gutiérrez, the Argentina internationals, and Barton before the end of the month.

Enrique..

But to be honest I wouldnt be "Gutted" its more than likely to happen, infact if its just the players on that list sold it would be a suprise.

The likes of Beye/Bassong and Guthrie would be more upsetting.

Fact is most will leave, the club will go on and we will move on, we dont owe any of those players anything, its very much the other way around.

wouldn't be gutted about any of them although would be slightly disappointed if Enrique went but wouldn't lose any sleep about it.  As for the others i'd gladly help pack there bags.

None, they are all partly responsible for our relegation, besides we couldnt afford their wages in the Championship.

how will the boo boys win if Xisco goes?  we've had 4 managers this season and NONE of them have played him!  Surely that tells you everything you need to know,  the lad is f***ing useless man.
