Joey Barton (now retired)

Recommended Posts

Caulkin:

Once he joins QPR, next step in Barton choreography: heartfelt interview with Sky, praises #Nufc fans, barbs for hierarchy. That's my bet.

Agreed - he will doubtlessly come out all guns blazing with regards Ashley/Llambias.

'It is great news for Joey,' McKay told BBC Radio 5 Live.

'We have been inundated with interest.

'We're talking to top Premier League clubs and European clubs. One is very, very interested.'

'Joey Barton about to seal the deal with QPR.  Good luck to him'

Good. Hopefully the money saved will be put towards buying a striker.

Seriously, what the fuck is this meant to mean? That money should be available in abundance anyway.

Is it not widely understood that Barton was on £50-60k per week?

Wonder what the next excuse is for why we 'can't afford' to go after Danny Sturridge then.

There has been no sign that Sturridge is available. Pretty sure he's in AVB's plans for this season. Agree with the main point as I said above, but people need to get off this Sturridge thing.

Very saddened by this  We've lost a tough character and an excellent player who wont be replaced. We'll suffer from this.

Agree we have lost a tough character and excellent player. And he may well not be replaced. But it's not always been a bed of roses whilst he's been here tbh. We've had one good full season from him but imprisonment, injury, that f*cking stupid sending off against L'pool, twittergate etc haven't helped the club's cause one bit. If he stayed we'd just be counting the hours until the next JB "incident".

What percentage of our goals did Nolan, Barton and Carroll count for last year (assists included)?

Dunno about assists, but in goals alone 44% are no longer at the club. Add in Peter 'he'd better not play again' Lovenkrands and you're at 55%.

Another massive blow. So that's a right winger, left back and striker we're looking for now then.

Ignoring the first two results which papered over the cracks, it's obvious that this could be a long, hard season.
