McClaren tried to sign Barton and Dawson?! And we kept him on past last summer? Ridiculous stuff.

Heard his full interview on the radio. He made some persuasive points, around the sense of personal and collective responsibility in a core of the squad he was previously relegated with. How it was this coupled with the determination to 'make good' which got them back. How he didn't see enough of this in current squad, how they wouldn't bounce straight back without it. He they needed to get shot of everyone who isn't up for the fight.

He also sees Charnley as a good guy, with his heart in the right place. Doesn't have a problem with Ashley. Describes Llambias as the devil incarnate. Is another pro/ITK who rates Jack Colback. I agree about needing men who are up for a fight and think Barton had (too much of) this, I wouldn't want him back.

Just a reminder that Joey Barton was injured for the vast majority of our last Championship season.  He played in the first few games then vanished with an injury until near the end of the season when we were almost already promoted.  He played in fewer games than Fabrice Pancrate.  If there was a determination amongst the players to make good and get back into the Premiership it had fuck all to do with him.

 and he was a complete tool by getting sent off against Liverpool when the match was lost. He goes on like he was Kevin Nolan.

I don't credit him with bringing us back up - he was injured for large parts of that season.

He put a canny few good crosses onto Carroll's bonce the following season though.

If Rangers win the cup then they will be back in Europe next year, not a bad move from him if that's the case. He good enough to piss all over the SPL for a few years, and gets himself some games in Europe.

Hash tagging Penny Arcade lyrics now.

It's common knowledge he's always been a Septic fan, but it doesn't fucking matter.  Just sign for Rangers without acting like you grew up in Govan just to play up to the fans and be an instant hero man.

There’s no point in having him back now, but in his prime he was a good player. There was far too much other stuff going on for him to fulfil his talent though.

It’s a bit of a cheek for him to blame others for the first relegation. If he hadn’t decided that taking out Alonso was more important than making himself available for our final three games, we might have stayed up.

But that was Joey. Too full of himself.
