Big difference between 'not at his best' and 'he was shit'. That wasn't his greatest game in the season but some of the comments are a bit harsh in my season. He was average today in a very average performance. Interestingly I thought he came into the game more when he played more centrally.

 

Agree that with whoever said he probably shouldn't be captain, he doesn't seem to have the temperament to get his point across in the right manner. Didn't he say in an interview or talk in that nolan can read him like a book and steps in when he can see joey is thinking about speaking up? Overall, poor game from Barton. Really wanted to play the big man, with being captain today. And it detracted from him just getting on with playing. Really pissed me off with him running up to the referee pointing to his armband in the first half, what was the point? He's called for the handball, it wasn't given.
