The NUFC transfer deadline day thread - Summer 2009

for 3 month only

September, October, November...

almost fills us till January.

May as well wait a month given the international break and the fact that our squad is fairly OK depth wise.

You have to prove it's an emergency loan. You can't just go "It's an emergency" and they'll turn around and go "Oh ok, go ahead"

I think we'll qualify tbh.

We will hopefully have new ownership by then, and be able to cite Mike Ashley as the emergency.

In the Premiership. Championship clubs sign about 10 players on loan each season.

What a shit window btw, in general, not just Newcastle.

Why is it a shit window for Newcastle? - for what its worth,  I think we did well to keep certain players and the addition of Lovenkrands is very good.  Making money and reducing the huge debt is very important and our squad is still capable (although thin) to win this league.

The difference with other signings on deadline day announced afterwards surely is that we got them from foreign clubs.

If we were actually loaning anyone decent from prem clubs, their original clubs would be the ones giving away the story. Not us. Doesnt look like theres anything atall.

Faye and Taylor were from Premiership clubs.

Taylor wasnt signed on the final day of the january transfer window. Cant remember Fayes situation atall

Provided we can limp on to January, we might be ok.

Will only take an injury to Colo/Taylor and we are up s*** creek.

Yes, we can "limp on" to January, but isn't it more likely for us to sell more players in January than it is for us to buy anyone?

The Football League have now confirmed the situation regarding loans as follows:

Standard loans can be for half a season or a full season. These can only be done during the two transfer windows (i.e. by the end of today or in January 2010).

Emergency loans can be done outside of the transfer window, but not after the fourth Thursday in November or March.

A club can have a maximum of four players under 23 and a further four over 23 on standard loan during the season. There is no limit on Emergency Loans.

However, only four players maximum can join one club from another during the season.

A maximum of five loan players can be named on a team sheet.

I'd imagine none of our hopefuls will count as emergencies, so they'll have to happen today.

I'm a bit disappointed that we don't seem to have spent any money but for totally ridiculous reasons; I knew deep down fuck all was going to happen.

Keeping the likes of Enrique and Steven Taylor is ultimately far more important. Lovenkrands is an excellent addition at this level.

We could definitely have done with more loan signings and free transfers. We are far too weak in defence right now.

Supperb we get our player back, one we should have never lost.

O0

The only other thing that we can be happy about is that there are no more players out (that we know of yet).  Stupid mistake though - the squad is nowhere near strong enough and now that another botched up window has shut under Ashley we can expect the inevitable injury crisis.

Perhaps now we'll find out what has happened the the cash from the summer transfers, and also the money that was due from Milner and Given's sales.

For the last time its gone on the fact we make massively less money then we spend on running the club, get it into your head man!

That's why it's a shit window
