Here's one I didn't expect to be putting on the list.....

THEIRS is a friendship which has fascinated Tyneside.

Now Rob Lee and David Gest have revealed how the pair became pals.

Toon fan David bumped into the former Newcastle midfielder after watching a game at St James’s Park and invited the player out for dinner.

The following evening they headed-out as part of a group of 20, and hit it off. They have kept their vow to stay in touch ever since.

:cheesy:

David said: “I just ran into Rob after the game and invited him for dinner. We got together and we’ve been friends ever since.

“I love Newcastle, I’ve been coming here for years.

“I’ve always loved it, the people are great and I love the team, Newcastle United. I know they’ve had a tough time, but there are changes coming. I can feel it.”

He then hinted: “There could be plans for us to do something on TV together.”

Maybe he is the US funding behind one of the bids!!!  :frantic:

David Guest is in Newcastle at the minute. Seen him on China town on Monday in one of the restraunts. Few people tryingto take photos of him through the window, he invited them all in and got in photos with them.

Possibly Rowan Atkinson, I'm sure she told me he supports them.

I'll ask her when I get home.

He definitely went to uni at Newcastle.

He was born in Hexham I believe.

so was Pete Doherty, but he supports QPR.

Guess I was wrong, he's from Consett, which if you are not from the region is probably more Newcastle Territory than Sunderland, at worse it's 50/50.

Since I've never heard his name mentioned when it comes to the toon, I think it safe to assume he's one of those arty farty types that have no interest in "soccer".

Isn't Norman Wisdom a toon fan? Sure I've seen it alluded to on nufc.com before. Jimmy Adams the Windies cricketer is as well.

reply no19.

he's a long time toon fan.

can anybody remember the match, think it was in the 80s when Norman wisdom was running round the pitch at half time?

sure it wasn't peter cartwright. looked similar and fell down a lot ?
