Its a bizarre statement to make though, should really have kept it to himself.
Tiresias
What utter nonsence, when first read thought he meant teams throwing games to ruin rivals league position which is also pretty stupid but least its not rich clubs paying out smaller clubs to lose or something Oh wait i see...silly idea wouldn't work bleh

Well yes, but surely if this becomes the norm teams that haven't been paid will start not bothering? I mean, if you always do your best anyway you'd miss out on potential multimillion pound pay-outs. If Man U and Man City are neck and neck and you're Southampton playing Man U and you've seen other teams given £10m for a win by a team tryign to avoid relegation and Man City give you fuck all, surely you'd just say fuck em and play the kids? It'd be pretty easy to start hinting you'll throw the game and blackmailing teams to giving you money "Ooh, I think we might have some injuries for this game, everyone's a bit tired, I think our star player might need resting" Would turn the league into a protection racket. With the massive squads and intra-divisional loaning of players by Chelseas/Man Citehs/Man Utds etc, we're halfway there sadly.
