Probably a better pitch than some of the 5 a side pitches in England...nice story.

Koh Panyee is a small village in Thailand that is entirely built on stilts over the water, that was created by the fishermen. In 1986, despite having no land or area to play football, they were determined to start their own football team and play the game. It is now one of the most successful youth soccer clubs in Southern Thailand, even though they have not even got an inch of proper/real land.

Nowt to do with football but not a thread for it in General, but Shields' brother and Ashington lad Ken Ferrie scored the lowest ever score on the European Golf Tour today.

He must be completely fucking fed up.  Aye, he's a footballer and he's still getting paid but to know you have the ability and not be able to get on the pitch must be heartbreaking.  He's been there nearly 4 years now and I barely even think of him as a Man Utd player.

It's been bad news for England. He'd have been a regular starter if it wasn't for his injuries.

This is it.

You've got to feel for the lad.  Absolutely gut-wrenching luck with injuries.  His only hope is to have a solid pre-season someone and rebuild his strength up completely.  He should go to a Championship team or something, with less pressure.

Then again, he's exactly the sort of person we'd try and sign. :kinnear:

overachieve massively. That was only their 6th or 7th season ever in the Spanish topflight.

Got f***ed over by Dmitry Piterman too, the club destroyer.

Only the halfway stage, but qualification for the ACoN next year is looking very unpredictable with some big teams having the possibility of failing to qualify.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Africa_Cup_of_Nations_qualification

Botswana are already there, having won 5 and drawn 1 of their 6 games. Before then they'd never even really came close to qualifying.

Egypt, who have won the last 3 tournaments have just 1 point from their first 3 games. It's looking very likely that they wont get there. Cameroon too, look like they must rely on getting in as a best runner up, while Morocco and Algeria are tied on points with Central African Republic and Tanzania. Cape Verde also top their group ahead of Mali as it stands.

I doubt many of you apart from Baba will find this at all interesting, but it seems weird that these smaller nations with shocking past records in qualifying are pushing the perennial big guns all the way.
