NEEJ
Just on the subject random of Toon fans, anyone know the trampy looking guy who always wears a dirty suit, scraggy black hair, sometimes wears sunglasses? I've saw him at every away game I've been to. Sounds like the bloke we bumped into on the way to Bruges. Would engage anyone that looked at him in conversation. The poor Belgian bloke stuck opposite him was sick of his life.
Wullie
There's some right oddballs follow NUFC away from home like. For all the talk of football pricing people out, it never seems to hit our away support cos there's plenty follow the Toon who you can't believe have been let out for the day, never mind have jobs. broonalegeordie
Our oddest is Cliffy! Harmless enough, but how does he afford to never miss a game? I can't imagine he has a job with that jet black mess of a hair style and his cool big earrings!

We stopped off at a service station and he just decided to sit next to me for some reason, he said something but me not being a Geordie i genuinely hadn't a clue what he said!! ujpest doza
John Badge was a proper fucking radge charva but he was canny enough whenever I met him, got me tickets for Boro years ago after it had sold out and went with his bus a few times after that. Doesn't surprise me that he was up to all sorts. Cannot believe he was 32 like, he looked 35 when I knew him and that was nearly ten year ago! Was that Swifty? Sold badges outside the Labour Club? Swifty was 35 about 50 years ago chortle.
ujpest doza
Is Keith Barrett's banning order up yet? Yes but he's rapped in following Newcastle. He says he fell out of love with the game as it isn't the same game and experience that he fell in love with (or words to that effect) and he won't be back. Complete and Utter Pain in the Arse is Cliffy and would hate to be sat next to him on a bus, train or at the match. He's been going for years mind, i remember all of the coaches (not just his) being held back for about an hour once at Norwich because he had turned left outside the ground and got lost instead of just walking straight ahead over the road into the coach park. WarrenBartonCentrePartin
one I've seen a canny bit was this little fat bloke, scraggy hair, stubble and bloodshot eyes. Wore a manky as owt cardigan with a fucking BNP badge on it saying "don't unpack, you're going back" Endured a painful conversation with him coming back from Blackburn on the train in 06/07, then he approached us again offering us cans of Carling on the train back in 07/08 saying he recognised us. Saw him at Wigan, Scunthorpe and Sheff United as well.

jdckelly
Napoli given 2 point deduction and few players given various bans for match fixing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20769692 so the only wrong Napoli did was employ a guy who unsuccessfully attempted to fix a match (with the club having no knowledge of said attempt) and the players who told him to get lost over it got 6 month bans for failing to report it? Seems a tad harsh

Ash
Not sure if it's been mentioned but just caught the end of the news on the radio which said that all 20 PL chairmen have agreed clubs need to break even and a possible introduction of some sort of cap on wages? Apparently set to meet again in Febraury to discuss it in more detail.
Village Idiot
Spanish branch of Betfair has paid out Barça as La Liga champion. Wonder why bookies do that. Publicity? EDIT: They have reopened the market with far tighter odds so maybe it was damage limitation by them.

Village Idiot
Looked at the Suso thread on RAWK to see what they think of his fine, not pretty To be honest to them, I think the FA are overstepping their authority a bit here.
Ameritoon
It's the "banter" comments I'm referring to. People just can't understand why using a word referring to a group of people in a negative sense is wrong. Besides, the FA have already set a precedent when they fined Macheda. I agree; Some clearly don't see certain terms as quite as offensive as others do, though it's a hazy line in many ways. Paki, Jap, and going to the chinkies etc were only fairly recently dropped from what was classed as acceptable. Though they're in essence just country names, somehow the negative connotations have removed them from what is widely classed as acceptable. Spaz, mong, and flid are still terms used widely in banter, but I really struggle with them, and I'm not sure why really. Taff? Jock? Acceptable or not? BottledDog
'Chinky' is a slur based on Asian people having 'slit eyes' rather than a shortening of China. Ah, you may well be right. ...but may I refer you to the venerable Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chink A number of dictionaries have provided different suggestions as to the origin of chink. Some of these suggestions are that it originated from the Chinese courtesy ching-ching,[3] or that it evolved from the word China,[4] or that it was an alteration of Qing,[5] as in the Qing Dynasty (Ch'ing Dynasty), or that the word evolved from the other meaning of chink, which is a small crevice, crack, gap or a narrow opening, being a simile for small or slanted eyes. (Sometimes, the word is indeed employed as an adjective, as in chink-eyed.)[6] The most obvious etymology is chink evolved from the Indo-Iranian word for China, that word now having similar pronunciations in various European languages, such as Persian.[7] And that the Indo-Iranian and hence European name for China is an alteration of the Chinese name Qin, which has recurred in Chinese history a number of times, including the name of the western kingdom, which took over the rest to form the first Empire. This was the first time the name had been seen, and now it is a very common family name in China and Vietnam (Cheng, Trinh, and similar). Because it is a very common family name, it is impossible to trace it back to any specific time place or person, and the lack of evidence for the coining of the term in English (or any other European language) is therefore not unusual. It is possible that word was imported into Indo-European as the name of the Qin state. Not that Wiki means much, I grant you.
