Dave
“I’m not going to shout from the rooftops about what I think I might have achieved. “But I was European Player of the Year at a very young age and I was the Golden Boot winner in my first two years in the Premier League. “I’m not going to go through what I did, but I’m pretty certain where I would have been if I hadn’t had some really debilitating injuries.”

S.S.R.
Owen's career exposed him as a one-trick pony who could only score by outpacing defenders. Once he lost that extra yard he had bugger all else to offer.
SEMTEX
Maybe if a manager had suggested he play a deeper role earlier in his career, he could've prolonged his career by becoming something more than a one trick pony. If only such a mythical manager existed.

S.S.R.
Maybe his legs might have been a bit more robust if he tried doing something clever instead of just spamming the sprint button.

wacko
The former England star is retiring after managing just one start for Stoke all season, because he says he can no longer cut it at the highest level since losing his blistering turn pace. Eh? Why didn't he retire 12 years ago, then?
Raconteur
Parting gift: Stoke players egg Michael Owen's Mercedes as "farewell present" http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/stoke-players-egg-michael-owens-1884378 I bet deep-down he's really pissed off at that. I bet it's not so deep at all - the little cunt will be fuming!

mouldy_uk
Unfortunately he followed up with: @themichaelowen without injuries would have broken every scoring record out there.Scariest pace ever, cold hearted finisher, won games alone
David28
Hatred aside, he was one of the best from 97-04. Would even say till that Spurs game in December 2005. He did very well for us in that first half of the season, not missing many games and scoring some good goals. Ever since, though, he wasn't the same player. Superior Acuña
I'm confused about these goal scoring records he'd have broken, given that at his peak he never broke 20 league goals in a season.
LesPaul
Sorry if it's a giggs but: OptaJoe @OptaJoe 2m 2005 - The final goal assist of Michael Owen's Premier League career came in December 2005. Distant.
