Hope he doesn't prosper contractually due to our current injury problems...

he's nailed on purple player for Pardew

Yeah, his five year deal is proof of that, mate.

EDIT: Debuchy is being targeted for backup, too.

Cabaye will tell him how great its like being a purple player, and the quality football he's been promised all season lol.

Second only to the Williamson free kick in terms of frustration is when a decent attacking move finds the feet of Simpson thirty yards from goal, who turns and sweeps it back to Krul. Never seen a team go from front to back as quickly as we do.

Ok so he backs off too much sometimes but Danny is a decent defender with a reasonable nose for danger. Why I think he needs to move on is because modern teams need full backs who can attack or at least retain possession. He doesn't trust his first touch so plays the ball back towards our goal - safe but ultimately ending in a Krul or Williamson boot. I sit in the East Stand and you can see HBA et al desperately looking for a pass that is not Danny. In today's game the 'defence' is the two CB and one or two CM. in any such system you need width from you FB. Danny will probably be at QPR in January. I'll be pleased if that happens but will wish him well.

Roma have reportedly sent scouts to view Newcastle United right-back Danny Simpson with an eye on a January move.

The 25-year-old will be out of contract in the summer, though the Magpies are not eager to release him mid-season.

There is also thought to be competition from Watford, but Roma would provide a new experience in Serie A with all-attack Coach Zdenek Zeman.

According to Calciomercato.it, the Giallorossi have already sent talent scouts to view Simpson in a few games this term.
