Us to go for Vaughan if he goes to Everton?

I'd much prefer Vaughan to Beckford. He's looked very promising and I'd be a bit surprised if Everton let him go.

Why would he move to us and not another Premiership club?  Given the logic of some of the people on here, it'd be an admission of "not being able to cut it" in the big league  :shifty:  I agree though, he looks a good player.

Everyone's a critic, I suppose.  Personally, I'd have been happy to pay a few million for Beckford.  One only has to look at all of the media attention on him to see that he's better than the league he's playing in.  If we picked him up and he scored a handful of goals, which in turn helped us get promoted, that'd be his fee paid off in TV revenue alone.  Then, if he didn't perform in the Premiership, we could farm him out to eager Championship clubs.

Saying that, he'll go to a "bigger" (i.e. Premiership) club if one comes calling and I can't blame him.  He's no spring chicken and needs to make hay while the sun shines.  Plus, given the club's supposed precarious stability behind the scenes, I cannot blame people for being put off moving here.

That is why I'm glad we've picked up Routledge and Simpson - they're players who we need at this moment but could offload next season (if we get promoted) for reasonable fees if any Championship clubs come a-knocking, given that they're tied down to three-and-a-half year contracts.  Either that, or we can loan them out, have another club pay the wages following the recouping of their fees with TV revenue, and take them back once they've got a bit more experience under their belts.

Plus, fall all of his faults, I believe that the club is almost financially secure, which given the issues of Portsmouth and Crystal Palace of late (with more to follow, if the tabloids are to be believed) I'm actually quite thankful of.

I bet he's sitting at home wishing he came now.

He just did, from watching Jose.

I was trying to think of something amusing to add to Stifler's comment and you beat me to it with better than I could come up with !

Since that Cup run, Leeds have totally lost focus. If they don't go up, they'll find it hard to recover.

They are fucked in my opinion if they don't go up, Beckford wil not sign a contract with them and will go to a bottom half premiership club or championship club, while Becchio and Snodgrass will be wanting away with decent championship teams with realistic chances or promotion to the Premiership and I just can't see Leeds being able to replace those three players who they rely on.

Leeds now wish they'd taken the £2m. Bates is an absolute joker.

We can sign him for nothing in the summer. If Ken Bates even resembled a human being he'd probably realise what a twat he's been but as he isn't it doesn't really matter.

He's been playing like the gutless w***** he is since that transfer request, except of course for the Man U and Spurs games.

Most of the Leeds team have though even Snoddy who you were building up iirc.

Not to the extent Beckford has though. I think he had about 20 goals at the time of that transfer request and has something like 4 or 5 since. Snodgrass and Howson have kept them ticking over. Without them and Kisnorbo they'd be mid-table.

No, I do for voting for Boyd and then following it up by laughing at those who didn't.

Where is Boyd right now then? Heading for a top club I assume given your endorsement.

Love it if Leeds f***ed it up again.

As hillarious as it would be to see them throw away promotion, I'd love to eventually have Leeds back in the premiership. They are a storied club with great following.

Aye agree. They're definately a club that belongs in the top flight. I used to enjoy our games with them too, especially in the Sir Bobby Era.
