If he played for us I'd love him, same as Craig Bellamy.

What he said in that interview is pretty good actually, I wish more people would stand up the shite 'journalists' in this country. Especially when they make stupid accusations and report stories that are completely free of quotes or sources.

He seems to expect unquestioning support from his local press though, which is taking things a bit too far.

the reporter makes some good points towards the end. you can't just shrug off losing 4-1 at home to scunthorpe.

Fair enough, but the guy is still a pillock aside from that.   When you're in a position as chief sports reporter for a local radio station, don't be as fucking moronic as to spout off something such as 'I've heard rumours...', then when you're confronted by the club captain, who happened to have been listening, not be prepared to say who told you.

Its OK for fans to criticise the team when things aren't going well, but that bloke should have the ability to remain as neutral as possible if he's chairing a phone-in or whatever, and not start blabbing on that he's heard rumours.  It'd be funny if Derby banned him from their press conferences, which would be an absolute kick in the teeth for the radio station.

The journo makes himself look like more of an idiot as the interview goes on IMO, especially with stuff like 'shouldn't you be beating so and so?' type questions.

It highlights what a lot of people don't want to face about football... there can only be one winner, one champion, one cup winner, and sometimes you're just not good enough to be it.

Savage was absolutely there for the taking for the journalist didn't argue his case very well.

Agreed. He could have nailed him about the performances and wages part, but let him slip away. Rasied his voice once or twice but pussied out of it.

They both come over poorly in that interview imo. Savage is blatantly looking for ways to deflect from the fact the team have been poor by babbling on about the backroom staff's credibility and the journo is coming out with tripe like "you should have beaten so and so on paper at least". They should have just got their dicks out and started measuring.
