If we signed Keane it will surely mean one of Xisco, Shola or Lovenkrands out of the door.

Think it will be Best leaving if anyone. Keane and Carroll could be an excellent partnership, with Ben Arfa on the left or behind them ... mouthwatering.

Aye, forgot about Best. But he won't be leaving. Who would buy Leon Best? And, who would buy an injured Leon Best?

Wonder where Ben Arfa will play if we get Keane.

Perch Williamson Colo Jose

               Tiote

Routledge         Jonas

             Ben Arfa

        Keane  Carroll

Although maybe that would work in FM better than the real world

Hope that won't be the case as I want Barton in the starting XI.

So there'd be no place for Nolan, Barton, Guthrie, Smith or Gosling. I know it's a squad game but something has to give.

Don't think we really need Keane tbh, as I think Ben Arfa is being signed as a second striker type anyway. May have to ship out someone like Smith though, as we've gone from being weak in the middle of the park to having way too many.

If we got Keane, then I wouldn't be surprised if Xisco did end up on loan to a random La Liga struggler on loan or for an undisclosed fee.

Spurs need at least 2 new players (a striker and midfielder) if they are going to compete in the champions league

I really do not like Keane,he was great years ago but not done a lot recently.

Hardly pulled out any trees at Celtic either, really.

There's only Carroll who I'd not swap him for though. Clearly an improvement if he comes.

oh dont know if this has been mentioned but was reading the star online last night and brief bit on shola

"Striker Shola Ameobi will hold talks with boss Chris Hughton. Stoke and Blackpool are both monitoring his situation."

I think the only one out of those I'd be sad to see out of the starting 11 would be Barton, but I'm sure Hughton thinks differently, what with Nolan being captain, and I can't see him going for a midfield diamond anyway.

Robbie Keane could be decent as second choice, haven't seen him for more than a year but had we been linked with him two years ago I would be pretty excited. And i dont expect him to have become so much worse.

Even with Ben Arfa we need another striker. Loven is alright as 3rd/4th choice, the rest apart from Carroll aren't good enough.

Carroll as a lone striker with Ben Arfa behind him would be great, though.

I just wish we could have got Bellamy, that would have been amazing.

As it is another striker would be good, you're right. Keane would probably be raring to go, but I've not seen much of him recently to know whether he's the player he was. Always looks intelligent and sharp though, which would make him a good partner for Carroll in theory.

I think we need to be wary of making too many changes too quickly as well. The continuity and team spirit we have is our biggest asset, Hughton should realise that he needs to introduce new players gradually and without damaging what we have.

The advantage we have over most promoted teams is the amount of Premier League players we already have. We need to add to them with the right amount of new talent, while keeping the basic team together IMO.

That's my opinion as well.

Assuming Ben Arfa signs, if someone had told me at the start of the transfer window that we'd sign him, Sol Campbell, Dan Gosling and a quality defensive midfielder i'd have laughed my tits off.

Full credit to Hughton and (dare I say it) Ashley and Llambias as well.

Watching the pre-match press conference on .cock, and there's definitely something in the Keane rumours IMO. My source: Hughton's grin when the reporter asks about him  :snod:

Gotta love Hughton like  :aww:
